Hello,
Most claculators have a specific key for that: Usually it represented as a caret (accent circonflexe ) [^] or a Y raised to a small x, or an X raised to a small y.
Assuming you find the key, there only two possibilities
5[^]3 =, if key is accessed directly (the marking is on the top of the key)
5 [SHIFT] [^] 3 if marking in on calculator, not on the key or
5 [2nd] [^] 3 if marking in on calculator, not on the key and you do not have a shift key.
Note: Some calculators do provide a key for the cube. [x^3] or [SHIFT][x^2], If that is the case, you can also use this key to compute 5^3.
Hope it helps.

How do i get a negative exponent?

I don't have this calculator, but let's give this a shot and see if it gives us the correct answer.

Let's try 10 to the exponent -2. The rule for negative exponents is to put 1 on the top and the term with a positive exponent on the bottom. In this case, it would be 1 on the top and 10 to the exponent 2 on the bottom, or 1 / 100 or 0.01.

In the calculator, enter 10, hit the x to the power of y key, left bracket (, the negative key (-), 2, the right bracket ), and finally the = key. You might not have to enter the left and right brackets, but I like to enter them to understand what I enter in brackets is the exponent.

Let me know if it works and if you have any other questions.

Good luck.

Paul

FX 82 es scientific calculator. How I get decimal expansion of numbers?

Meaning what, exactly?
If you want a decimal representation of an exact number, press the SD key to switch from exact to approximate (decimal). If you want to expand a decimal number in powers of 10, separate all the digits, multiply every digit by a power of 10 with exponent equal to its position as counted from the decimal mark -1. To the left of the decimal mark, the exponent is positive. To the right of the decimal mark, the exponent is negative. Sum everything
Example
345.678 =3*10^(3-1)+4*10^(2-1)+5*10^(1-1)+6*10(-1)+7*10^(-2)+8*10^(-3)

Can you do the highest common factor on an fx-83GT PLUS casio calculator

The calculator has no application that will find the highest common divisor (or HCF) but that should not be difficult to do by hand.
Decompose the first number in prime factors. If a prime factor is repeated use the exponent notation: That helps
Decompose the second number in prime factors too, using the exponent notation.
Now look at the two decompositions. If a prime factor is present in both decomposition it must be in the HCD /HCF, with the smallest of the two exponents. Do that for all prime factors
Example;
(2^5)*3*(5^4)(7^3)*11
(2^3)*(5^6)*(11^2)*7
The prime factors that are present in both decompositions are
2, 5, 7, and 11
From the two decompositions select the smallest power of each
2^3, 5^4, 7, 11
The highest common divisor/Highest common factor is
(2^3)*(5^4)*7*11

HOW CAN I GET AN EXPONENT FROM TI-84 EX: B

You cannot use a letter as an exponent, unless you stored a numerical value in memory B (EX: 3 [STO>] [ALPHA] B stores value 3 in B)
For any numerical value of exponent ( positive, negative, integer, fraction, what have you) you use the general power key, marked with a caret [^] under the [CLEAR] key.

Example: To enter 15 to power 5
Type in 15
Press [^] key
Type in the value of the exponent (5) and press [ENTER]
You get 759375 as result.

How do you put exponents in the calculator

For integral powers of ten, use the EE key, just above the 7 key. For example, to enter 1.3 time ten to the fourth, press 1 . 3 EE 4

To raise e to a power, use the e^x function (the shifted function of the LN key on the top row). For example, to calculate e raised to the 1.2 power, press 1 . 2 2nd [e^x] =

To raise any number to any power, use the y^x key, just above the divide key. For example, to calculate 3 to the 5th power, press 3 y^x 5 =

Hope this helps. If you still have questions, please feel free to respond to this post.

Looking for a syntax

I am not sure what you are asking for?
Repeated multiplication (with same factor) is called raising a number (base) to a power. The exponent of the power is equal to the number of times the factor is repeated.
The calculator has several buttons to calculate powers.
For the square X*X you have a key [X^2].
For the cube X*X*X you MIGHT have a dedicated key [X^3].
However all calculators (scientific) have a universal power key marked [^] or [X^y] or [Y^x]

Example : In 5x5x5x5x5x5x5 you have a repeated multiplication, so the base is the factor (5) and the exponent is equal to 5. It is equal to the number of times the factor is repeated.
So 5x5x5x5x5x5x5 can be written much more efficiently as 5^7

Entering 5 then pressing the [^] key, followed by the exponent 7 gives the result 78125.
