Our Tv will not turn on. It has a red stand-by button on (red). It does not come on and never turns green. When you turn on, the red light just blinks red once.

I've had the same problem. Found out it was a failed power supply component. Took it to local TV/Computer repair shop and they fixed it up in a couple of days.
