On the UMAX 318T there r 2 tabs on top on the keyboard
[the first is in between the F1 &F2 and the 2nd is in between the PrtSc & Scroll Lock]
take a small flat screwdriver & push them gently
the keyboard will pop up [think like the hood of a car]
careful tho it has cable that attaches to the motherboard
but u can still remove it enough to set it on the lower are [the moise square]
now u should see the RAM modules]
there r 2 clips [one on the top & one on the bottom]
these will release the RAM
on this specific model the max is SDRAM 128 MB -100 Mz each thus 256 MB max
however depending on which processor u have
for example i put a k6-2 550 MHz on this board
as long as u use the 100 Mz SDRAM the upper limit can be overcome
i sucessfully put to 2 SDRAM 512 MB - 100 Mz thus quadrupling the RAM to 1 GB
There is a small cover retained by a screw on the bottom of the laptop that covers the ram modules. Remove the screw, pop the cover loose and remove, there are your ram modules. If you are increasing memory besure to look at the old modules for type and frequency and buy the same type. BPCS
