To check the battery charge, press and release the status button on the battery charge gauge to illuminate the charge level lights. Each light represents approximately 20 percent of the total battery charge. For example, if four of the lights are on, the battery has 80 percent of its charge remaining. If no lights appear, the battery has no charge

To check the battery health, press and hold the status button on the battery gauge to illuminat the level lights. If it has no light theres about 100% - 80% charge performance, one led light 79-75%, two led lights 74-70 %, three led lights 69-65 %, four led lights 64-60 % and five led lights 59- less% charge performance. If this is the case, you need to purchase the battery.

If the battery charge and health is ok, then the failure would be on the motherboard

Check your mains adapter plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.

If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop power it up then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. I suggest you get a quote first.

My CDI burnt out, the Rev counter went mad, CDI smoked, nd bike stopped with blown front & rear bulbs and a dead flat battery. I replaced all the above. a month later it's happened again, smoking CDI,...

Your regulator may have went bad. The regulator converts the ac charge produced from the alternator into the DC volts required to charge the battery. When they fail they can put out 5 times what the battery needs. Depending on your bike the regulator may be separate from the alternator. You should pick up a cheap volt meter. Once you get the bike running, use the volt meter to see what the bike is charging at. If you find the charge is above 14.8 V or that the voltage fluctuates to the extreme, ex. 14.2v, 8.2v, 12.7v all within a few seconds. then the regulator is probable. Another problem I have found is that the ground wire for wiring harness does not get hooked back up. This is a smaller ground wire that may plug into the main ground cable or sometimes is a separate lead connected to the battery. This will fry an entire system.

I bought a car with a kenwood kvt 715dvd the battery went dead an now its asking for a password but i dont kno it how would i reset my kenwood kvt 715dvd/cd player

Did you look online or do you have a owners manuel? There is usually a factory set password such as 1-2-3-4 etc, unless you purchased it second hand and the previous owner custom set - then you have to contact the previous owner or Kenwood. Most people dont change the factory passwords. TRY KCAR (5227 ON A KEYPAD) uf that doesnt work read the forum post on: ecoustic.com. Good Luck

Battery going dead

The battery regulator may not be functioning properly. At times it will send a charge to the battery and at times it won't. This is normal, but if it is not allowing the battery to receive current when it should then there is a problem. Another possibility is a loose connection in the wiring. I would check the connections first.
