Re: help

There is a gear on the end of the fuse that is bad.
Google a business called The Parts Drop.
You can order that part there, less then $20 from them. No I do not work for them LOL, But deal with them often.
If you need instructions on how to replace that gear let me know.
It's not difficult to replace. And that is the problem. Guarantee it 100 percent.
J1 is a different issue. J1 means your out of toner.

My Laserjet 5SI printer has been jamming a lot lately and now it's making a grinding noise. Should I replace the cartridge or what?

Fusers generally make grinding noises more than cartridges do. If your paper jams are in the fuser area, check the fuser first.

When you open the left side door of the printer, the fuser is installed on a shelf near the top of the cavity. To remove the fuser, grasp the left and right blue fuser release handles and rotate them to the straight up and down (vertical position. Then lift up on the fuser and remove it from the printer.

Take a close look a the at the gear located on the top left corner of the fuser - does it have broken/ bent teet or is it loose on its mounting shaft? If so, that's probably causing both the paper lams and the grinding.

Also look in the printer directly under where this gear would be if the fuser were inserted in the pinter. Do tou see a build-up of fine particles the same color as the fuser gear. If you do that's further proof the the gear is bad.

You can but a replacement fuser at several places - check out & you can get one on an exchange basis.

Panasonic UF-9000 Laser Printer/ Fax, E04-01 Error Already Replaced Fuser Assy. for Grinding noise & broken fuser gear.

Hmm, that is still a fuser error for sure, was that the same error you had before you replaced the fuser assembly? You did replace the fuser itself with the assembly, correct?

Let me know

My HP m3035 printer is making noise in the toner cartridge compartment on the right grinding sounds. I changed the Toner, still amking the noise any ideas?

Open the rear door. Power on the printer. Watch and listen as the fuser rotates. Does the noise occur when the fuser rotates? if yes - replace it. If you still think it's coming from the toner, remove the toner, close the toner door. When the motors start turning the noise should be gone. Insert the toner and listen again

The screen reads paper jam error, but there is no visible paper jam and when turned on a grinding noise occurs

Most likely, there is a paper jam in the fuser unit....which is stalling the fuser rollers, thus causing grinding noise (accordian or fan folded jam)

I called Dell about the same problem. They said it's a motor error. They had me turn off the printer and remove the transfer belt, fuser and all the toner and then turn the printer on and replace them one-by-one, closing the printer door each time to see what the message was.

The printer then began printing before seizing up and reporting the same error message. They ran me through some steps and we realised that I need a new fuser and/or fuser motor.

Try the above. Otherwise call Dell, they were very helpful.

Brother HL2700CN Noisy fuser

Shortly after I poseted the problem. I went back and "tricked" the top cover switch into thinking the top cover was closed by pressing the cover sensor with a pen and then tried printing a page. I noticed that the grinding was happening as the printer was spinning the black toner cartridge. By replacing the cartridge this stopped the noise. It could very well have been any of the cartridges, so you may need to do some trial and error.

Error message - won't function.

Usually it is the gears in the fuser asm. One of them is cracked or imbedded with toner and grease. Open the right cover and remove the two screws holding the fuser in place. First remove the back cover and unplug the fuser cables.
