I would like to change the screen brightness on my Tecra 8200 laptop, but can't find HELP on how to do this. Is there a 'hotkey'? Where can I get hotkey descriptions, if they exist?

Normally there's a Function button (Fn) and you can use that in conjunction with the brightness buttons on the keyboard (looks like a sun on most)

Toshiba tecra 8200 power problem

The power button is on the LEFT side of the computer, under the Ctrl key, slightly closer to you. It is covered by a sliding door which slides BACK to open and expose the push-ON button.

Brightness

You have a blue key that says FN (stands for function) on the bottom left side of your keyboard, next to control and shift. The brightness and dimming hotkey is usually on the arrow keys or up on your f row, f1-f12 and you'll see like a sun and half sun in blue, same as the function key. While holding that function key tap keys you found and it'll brighten and darken. If it doesn't, you may need hotkey software installed, a new LCD (backlight may have failed) or inverter which powers the LCD.

Where is on/off button

The power button is on the left side of the machine just behind the speaker - There is also a sliding flap that covers the power button you have to slide towards the rear of the machine to expose the power switch.
