Enter the Bios and under System Components find the Boot priority in the Bios and move the drive to the top of the list, also you can press F12 at Start up to select it as well. :)
Since you are using RAID 1 (Mirroring) you will only need to send one drive for data recovery.
Since the Dimension 9100 uses SATA HDDs yes you can increase the storage capacity up to a matched pair of 650GB drives. I'd suggest you use the most current BIOS revision, but SATA controllers seem to be much more agreeable to large HDDs vs the EIDE ones before them.
RAID is redundancy, but it is not a data backup, as you have learned. Important data should be backed up to DVDs monthly/quarterly etc. and you can even do critical backups weekly.
Hello, What you need to do my friend is remove the CMOS battery, then remove the power cord from the computer. Press the power button on the front of the pc, you might at this point see a temporary flash of the power LED (at this point the cmos /bios is now cleared and reloaded with the defaults. Next, put the battery back in and then the power and boot to the bios. Just reload all settings as needed and you should be back in business!!!
Hi there Download the raid drivers from Dell if you need them. You have to go into the bios settings to enable raid, look to see what raid options you have and choose them accordingly to how you want your raid configuration.
The front side bus speed of the processor is the limiting factor of your RAM speed.
The Processor has a 400 Mhz FSB, hnece your RAM runs at 266.
For RAM to run at 333 (PC 2700), you'll need a 533 FSB Processor.
You may need to set up the RAID array before it will be detected. Look in the BIOS and see if there is a way to set up the RAID array there. If there isn't, watch as the PC boots up and see if there is an option to go into the RAID settings before windows starts. You may need to actually create an array before it will be seen.
