just follow this steps it might help u... try reseating the RAM by refering to the the user or service manul... or try calling up the DELL TECH SUPPORT.. take care..

Run the PSA Diags to check if there's a problem with the hardware.
To do this turn off the computer, and while the computer is off, press and hold the <FN> key and press the power button to turn it on.
You will see on the screen that diagnostic boot selected and then you can release the keys now.
Wait for it to finish and if there's an error it will generate an error code. If it does have an error code, you need to call tech support for assistance.

When turning on the laptop it goes to the Dell screen and stops with the "loading bar" at about 75%. When I push F12 it says "preparing one time boot menu" but goes no farther to choose...
This is your BIOS ( Basic Input Output System) screen. Before the computer loads the Operating system it checks to see if all the devices are there and ready. If the laptop hangs at that point, you might have a problem with your hard drive or CD/DVD drive. Try removing the drives and see if you get past that screen. hello miss sally, hi, the operating system error may be caused by a faulty hard disk or hard disk connection cable, and the hanging thing is caused by a faulty memory module, so check then out first, swap a new memory module, and for your hard drive, take it out from your laptop and use a PC to test the drive (applicable only if your hard drive is sata.)
