Question about Culligan Sediment Water Filter

Constant flow from my culligan soft minder twin water softner

I have a culligan soft minder twin that was installed around 1998. It has constant flow from the bleed line even after the unit has completed a regen. I did a manual regen with it isolated and had the same results when I unisolated it. I currently have it on bypass.

A constant drip to drain or brine refill indicates a problem with the seals in the valve. You need to determine which tank is leaking. The piston and seals need to be replaced.

My culligan mark 100 soft -minder water softner salt tank overfills

First check the eductor assembly. Top of valve under chrome plate. Pull it out and clean it (after bypassing and depressurizing the system)
If that is OK the the brine piston will need to be replaced. There is a rebuild kit for this series valve that is about $120 that includes the refill piston and a retrofit kit. It would be wise to rebuild the valve.

My Culligan MC450S water softner has a blank flashing display. Water seems to be constantly running through the softner and pressing any display panel buttons has no effect.

This system should be under warranty still. If it is running to drain constantly bypass the system and call Culligan for service. Unplug it for 2 minutes and it may reset.

Unless the softener was bypassed when the water heater went in, installing a water heater has no bearing on the softener working or not. Is it unplugged?

Hi,
Water softners will remove approx. 90% of the iron from the water...if this is acceptable then you are okay with the Culligan...if not then you will also have to install an iron removal system in addition to the softner.
Also check around with your local plumbers, as many will install a water softner at a gereatly reduced cost from what the franchises will charge you...and they have just as good a systems and often do a much better installation job.

Looking for ''Culligan soft-minder meter'' (part# 01-0073-47) for a 1998 Culligan Mark 100 water softner. I believe the turbine is no longer moving as the meter does not count down. What does the part...

It could be the meter assembly itself. This is the old style with the clear meter dial on the timer mechanism. There were several issues with this meter assembly. You can take the valve off and take it to your Culligan dealer for a "bench test". Also check the meter cable in back of meter assembly. It may have come apart. These parts are only available from Culligan.

Please check the timer for proper amount of recharge or back wash time. I think your "in water" for charging or back washing is controlled by a electric valve. Double check that it is closing when it should close. If necessary, check its voltage with a volt/ohm meter. When the water is suppose to be off, you should have no voltage at that valve, it must be closed. There is the possibility it is stuck partly in the open position by a piece of debris.

I am not a Culligan Expert but I am familiar with a variety of water filtering methods and systems.

Do I understand your waste water from this unit goes back to your septic system? Why? Is there a local code that requires that? Do you use salt water in this system? I think if you have salt water going into your septic, a burned septic pump is the least of your worries.

If salt water is involved particularly, or if it is just back wash water, can you dig yourself a dry well and feed this water into that dry well (a dry well is as simple as a hole in the ground filled with gravel and protected from dirt infiltration by a layer of straw).

I hope this helps you

Softner model hi flo 2 water volume about half

The flow packs are not opening properly. There may a restriction in the lines feeding the flow packs or the springs/ diaphrams may be bad. I suggest replacing both flow packs and making sure all lines feeding flow packs are free of oxidized iron and debris.
