There are very few moving parts in your furnace. The only component that would normally do this is the fan. You can turn on the fan only at the thermostat. Try turning on the "fan only" and listen to the furnace. The belt may need replaced, or the fan motor. You can repair yourself if it is the fan motor or belt. The belt is the same as a fan belt on your car, and it replaces the same.
Check the main blower. Make sure there is no debris stuck in the fan wheel( squirrel cage) or the blower as this can cause the blower to be out of balance and vibrate. Also check the blower wheel for any up and down or sidevto side movement which could indicate a worn motor bearing. Hope this helps.
If it makes the noise before the blower comes on it would be the exhaust fan. If it makes the noise when the blower comes on then I would say either the blower motor or bearings to the fan.
I would make sure the heater is unplugged then remove backscreen and foam filter. Carefully clean firter with warm water and alittle dish soap. Rinse thouroughly and air dry it. I would clean any hair lint or other debris from fan blades, motor and heating elements. You can use a tooth brush to clean heating elements. You can also use a drop or two of light grade machine oil or WD-40 on blower shaft where it enters the motor. Wipe off any excess oil and when you're sure filter is dry reassemble and try it. Hope this helps you. Thanks
sounds like possibly the indoor fan motor has gone bad....try turning your thermostat to "fan on" and check for air flow. if no air flow the motor will have to be replaced
Hi the motor might need some oil if you can oil this type ,
spin the motor with the power off see if the fan blades are rubbing on the sides , also push the fan blades back and fowards to the play in the bearing in the fan motor , you my find you need a new motor
Check by turning the unit off and turn the fan to on. Do you hear the noise now? The noise your hearing could be coming from your combustion fan assembly instead. Newer furnaces have a in-shot burner and are nosier than the old style of heater.
