Try unplugging the range you might get lucky. If not there is a sensor that will need to be replaced.

Hi greg_shanoia,

The F1:-4 error code means "Runaway Clean Lower oven". You need to check the oven temperature sensor, replace if necessary.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

My Maytag Gemini oven is displaying an F9-2 error code...I believe this has to do with the upper oven door lock mechanism...anything I can do, or does this require a service call?

F9-2 error code indicates:

  1. Door latch motor failure/jammed. Latch motor switch failure.
  2. Oven control software failure, or component failure(stuck relay).
  3. Wiring problem.
  • Press the clear key.
  • If the Clear key does not eliminate the problem, turn off the power to the range for 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
  • It is most likely to have a failed or misaligned door lock switch.

Heat in lower oven will not exceed 185 degrees

Several possibilities:

1. Bake/broil elements are bad - can you see them glow red?

2. Temperature sensor is out of wack - does the temperature displayed agree with the actual oven temperature? The sensor can be tested by measuring its resistance.

3. If the elements and sensors check out and the oven "thinks" it is hot when it's not, then it is probably your control board. In this case we may be able to help you, we repair these at www.fixyourboard.com.

Maytag Gemini Electric Oven - Lower is not locked, but will not open.

Usually, starting with a COLD oven, turn the self clean on. Wait 3 minutes, then turn it off [cancel] WAIT 1 minute at least, do not immediately pull on the door. This should reset the lock sync. If you cannot get it open still, you may have a faulty sensor that thinks the oven is overheated, or at this point you could have a bent actuator rod from all the tugging!

Maytag Gemini Stove Code F1-4 (bottom door won't open)

F-1 error is a Temperature Runaway. It Maytag's way of letting you know that oven overheated. Nothing you have done but it may have shorted out the oven sensor or the keypad. Check the sensor and see if it's closed. If it's okay, replace the keypad.

Self cleaning MAytag Gemini GAS oven

A wonderful feature is that the ovens self-clean with the press of a few buttons. Only one oven can be programmed to self-clean at a time. Remove the oven racks. Turn off the oven light and close the door. Press the "Clean" button and then press "Auto Set" to automatically clean the oven for 3 hours. Press the "Auto Set" pad again to set the oven for a 4-hour clean cycle, or press the button one more time for a 2-hour cleaning. The oven locks when in cleaning mode. When the oven is finished cleaning, the word "Cleaned" will be displayed on the control panel, and the oven will remain locked until the oven has cooled, which takes about an hour. To cancel the self-clean cycle, just press the "Cancel" button. Simple!

Maytag gemini self cleaning oven feature

Close door on lower oven (upper oven is not self clean). Press "Clean" pad. Press More pad or Less Pad. H is 4 hour clean, M is a 3 hour clean cycle and L is a 2 hour clean cycle. The door will lock and cleaning will begin. Good Luck!
