Hi,

F 51 - Uh, ho.

This machine has what they call a RPS sensor . It sits down on the stator motor and monitors how fast the machine is spinning. Right now it is not sensing and needs to be replaced.

Once replaced, the code would not appear.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Do accept the solution, if 100% satisfied from my service!!

When the washer will fill but nothing else the most likely cause would be the lid switch.

On this washer if the lid switch is defective it will not agitate or spin at all. The motor will not run with an open lid switch.

Another problem could be the pressure switch not closing the violet to pink wire to allow agitation.

You may test the lid switch by bypassing it. You may remove the cover from the back or top of the washer and you will see the switch where the lid is under the top. Remove the wire connector and jump it across with another wire. If the washer works, then the problem is the lid switch.

If you are having a trouble accessing the lid switch, contact a tech person to test it for you. Lid switch is not expensive and you should not spend too much money just for replacing it.

Have a great day!

Hello Jacqueline;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

The model number you have given is for a LG washer.

Anyway, you have a draining problem. FE = Fill Error. Your washer will not fill if it has not drained.

To fix the issue you will have to remove both the washer top and front cover to access the problem components.

Before the start of any work disconnect the washer power!

1.) Pump & or Pump housing is plugged up.
You will need to remove and clean these components:

Part Number 4681EA2001D - $57.00

On this component to check if the pump has failed you will need a multi-meter. Set the meter on the lowest Ohms. Disconnect the wire leads to the pump. Put one meter lead on one pump contact and the other lead on the other contact. If the pump is good the meter should read '0'. Perform this after cleaning.

Clean the pump housing

Check the drain switch.

Part number 6600FA1704X - $24.00

You will need a multi-meter as described above to check this component.

Hopefully, you are just plugged up.

Cold water won't stop before rinse cycle

if it fails to stop running only at the rinse part of the cycle it is probably in the timer as the solenoid valve has to cut the water off when the washer fills for the wash cycle too. fills for wash cycle and cuts off water, washes and drains, refills for rinse cycle and water just keeps running? does this every time you run it? that's in the timer. bad solenoid (water inlet valve) would keep running even on wash fill up. hope this helps.

When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.
