If you can see them on the PC, but not on the device, your device is too full.
The device needs at least 6MB for each GIG of music to create the database.
Delete some music and restart the device.

It is referring to the "database", or the menus on the device. (i.e. - songs titles, music, artists)
It needs at least 6MB of free space on the device to create this.
If you freed up what you think is 6MB, it may not be enough. Even though you have a 2GB player, there is only 1.85 of usable space on it. So try deleting some more tracks.
If not, format the device and start over. Right click on the device in My Computer and select format.
