Hi--
Have owned this TV for three years and have loved it. Recently, the TV has been making a sound when I turn it on that sounds like a fan revving up. It has become pretty loud so that it drowns out the tv sound. After a few minutes, the sound subsides almost back to normal. But it's annoying ffor those first few minutes and I want to be sure that I'm not damaging the TV by neglecting this issue.
I'm told this is a common fan problem with this model.

The problem is the color wheel. It is going bad and soon... it will break and your t.v. will not work. Order the color wheel, I ordered it from partstore.com and replaced it myself. It is not very hard, there are a couple of websites out there that showed me what i had to do.

I have the same problem. I called Samsung and talked to a tech who thinks it could be the barrings in the "color wheel" are going out and making the noise. He didn't think it was the fan because that doesn't turn on until the tv warms up. After a 30 minute discussion he felt certain that was my problem. I haven't had it repaired yet so I can't be sure. Hope this helps.
P.S. I don't have any problems with the color.
