One DIMM Slot could only support 2 GB Memory module, so try twin2x2048-6400c5 mem.mods

I have an Acer Aspire T180 and would like to upgrade the memory and add a wi-fi card. can you advise what cards I need to purchase?

Memory:
Looks like the Aspire T180 takes DDR2 533/667/800 memory. This is pretty easy to upgrade. Check to see how many memory slots your computer has (Probably 4, might only have 2). You should probably just replace what you have with new memory.
I recommend this memory:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122
It is 2x 2GB modules. 4GB of RAM is a good amount of RAM to have, you will see a noticeable performance increase.

WiFi:
I would recommend a USB wifi adaptor. It is easy to instal and most ones work well, even the cheap ones. Just stick it in the back of your computer and forget it it's even there.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833130066
I recommend this one, I have been using it for 2 years and have had no problems.

Trying to upgrade memory, have tried three sticks purchased at Best Buy terrific Geek Squad. None work. Where can I purchase a upgrade memory?

You may have non OEM memory, your system may not be able to handle that much mem, or you could have something wrong with the connector that your mem fits into. If your original mem still works then the connector is not the issue. You should also make sure you are putting in the memory stick correctly. Make sure it is put in straight and is firmly placed in the connector. If you don't it will cause your problem. Capacity is 1G. If you are trying to put in a 2G it will not work. Hope this helps.

Not upgrading 1gb ram to asus p5vdc-mx

yeap its the wrong memory.
max mem is 2GB DDR2 533/400 non-ECC, 2 x 184-pin DIMM

or you can use. 2GB DDR 400/333/266 non-ECC,
Note, you cant use both DDR2 and DDR in the same time. so set both memory stick as same type.
so if you set 2x1GB DDR2 533 you get the optimized speed.
hope it helps.

Amd a64 x2 4 athlon 64 x2 dual core processor & Corsair xms2 2 gb

What we really need to know is the socket type for the AMD. AMD makes sockets 939, AM, AM2, AM2+, AM3, etc. www.newegg.com will be the best friend you could ask for. I highly suggest their expert forums and chats as well, they'll help if someone here doesn't. But either way still need to know what socket that amd is. 5200, or 4200 or something like that is also more descriptive, thats how they ID their products. Mine is an AMD phenom II 920. Good proc.

PC freezing up after memory upgrade

You can use a utility called CPU-Z to find the timing of the memory installed in the PC. Then check your memory documentation (I could find no specs at the Samsung site) to make sure they match in the BIOS. I would remove one stick and see if the problem is better, and also try another brand (Kingston, Corsair, other major brand) to see if any of them work.

First, you will not be able to upgrade the video card on your laptop, since video cards for laptops are specifically designed to fit onto the motherboard and the design of the laptops body.

Secondly, sound cards as well are also deisgined that way, some sound cards on laptops are built in to the mother board and higher end sound card for laptops are specifically designed to fit onto the motherboard and the laptop's body.

Hard Drives on the other hand can be upgraded to a higher capacity but you can't add an additional Hard Drive. I have checked the specs of your laptop has 80GB IDE. You can upgrade to 120GB IDE or higher if you like. Just make sure that you purchase a 2.5" HDD (5400RPM/7200RPM speeds).

Here are examples of Hard drivers that you need for upgrade. I checked newegg.com for available laptop hard drive. You can check other online stores or other computer shops near you if you as well.

**Since you have installed Windows Vista, I suggest that you upgrade the RAM (Memory) on the laptop for smooth performance for Windows Vista. The maximum memory on your laptop is 2GB DDR SDRAM. Buyin RAM for laptops are a little but tricky so you can just go to the link below for specific memory upgrade for your laptop (I suggest that you purchase 2 pcs of 1GB since your system can accomodate up to 2GB).

Link for RAM (Memory) :

**If you decied to upgrade the Hard Drive, you can still use you old Hard Drive as an USB external Hard drive for storage purposes. You will just have to purchase a 2.5" External Hard Drive Enclosure. Click on the link below for the example of the product :

Would like to upgrade the memory. find out exactly what type of memory is in my computer. Model 5000 5400 US Serial No. 2H21KKLK21VG Purchased April 2002

Your computer model takes133MHz Synchronized DRAM. this is different from Asynchronized DRAM. Its very important to purchase the one versus the other.

I recommend Corsair.com for getting memory modules. They make the Micron Brand to meet MILSPEC for the US Govt and Military. Corsair memory comes with a lifetime warranty and I rarely have to have their memory replaced but when doing so, there is a no questions asked policy.

They also have a memory configurator, where you type in the make and mode of your computer and the program prompts you for the memory to purchase.

Please note: You can only increase your memory installed to 512MB, using two 256MB modules. 512MB is a minimum for Windows XP and probably won't run Vista should you want to go down that route. I'd suggest buying a used copy of Windows 2000 for an EBay Power Seller with a strong rating. Windows2000 is virtually WindowsXP but its needs for Memory are quite a bit smaller and you'll have a better experience.

Upgrade my Harddisk and memory

Good idea to do this. Most laptops will take any 2 1/2" hard drive you buy. There may be an issue with whether you can use a SATA or must only add an EIDE (regular hard drive). Still, the laptop may only be able to access the first 120 Gigs or 160 Gigs it depends on the laptop and hardware running your laptop. Call Acer and ask them. Once you know, go to NewEgg.com or ZipZoomFly.com or even TigerDriect.ca and you'll get a good/fair price with more than reasonable shipping and a solid guarantee if your part is damaged on arrival.

Memory is another issue altogether. Laptops are rather particular on what memory you can put in them. The only way to know for sure it to contact a manufacturer directly who also will sell it to you as well. You can google these solid memory makers and they will talk you through the upgrade:
Corsair
Crucial (Micron)
Samsung

These all have lifetime warranties on their memory. Follow their instructions carefully and follow static precautions when handling memory (basically only handle memory by the edges and never touch anything else).

Hope this has fixed ya!
