SCREEN GOES BLANK (by 2 users)

I HAVE AN ACER MONITOR, WHEN THE POWER COMES ON THE MONITOR ALSO COMES ON FINE FOR MAYBE 2 SECONDS AND SCREEN GOES BLANK. YOU CAN SEE THE ICONS IF YOU LOOK VERY HARD, I WAS TOLD MAYBE A BACK LIGHT IS BAD BUT HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM OR EVEN START TO FIND ACCESS IN THE PANEL. THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

monitor goes blank approximately five seconts after i turn it on. The power light remains green indicating sufficient power. Is this a cheap fix?
