Hi, I recently have bought a canon powershot G9 camera , I have installed its cd completely and updated the softwares to latest from internet. but when I connect it to USB port of my pc the following window appears : http://i18.tinypic.com/7ycex4p.jpg it is empty ! and when I go to my computer , there is no additional disk added there so I can browse my memory card :( what is the problem ? The reason it won't work is because when you went in to fix it, you shorted out the flash. That's what the flash was that you saw when you reconnected it to the main board. It's best not to open these and try to work on them yourself. There are steps to take when servicing electronics and it sounds like you forgot to drain the capacitor first. Go to the menu for the camera and look for "SAVE". you should have the choice in which format to save the pictures. Select "RAW" and then exit the menu. The camera should now save in RAW format. Some one or something probably switched the setting (such as reset camera).
It's a common problem with the loose screws on the G7 and the G9 cameras. The camera needs to be serviced since it likely blew a fuse when it shorted.
