Take out the 4 screws run small flat screw driver down the one side then the other be careful you need to remove the sd card first there is all so a gps cable the batt just plugs strat in.

Re: New battery

After you take the four coner screw off, just ply open the unit along the edges using a smal philip screw driver.

After you open the lid, you will see the black battery sitting in the middle, attached to the unit just by a double side tape.

Re: New battery

I know for the mio 168 you need a special torx screwdriver. They generally are supplied with a new battery. If not look on ebay for one.

I have a Mio P550 Digi walker. How do you open the battery chamber in order to change the battery? Many thanks

I removed the rubber infill that covered a hidden screw. Released screw and then removed back plate. Removing the battery then required care as it is stuck with two sided tape to the Mio internals. Here I used a knive to prise/cut free.

It sounds like the device is not reading the ROM card at all. This most likely is not a home type fix. Check your warranty and see if there is a solution there.

Hi, to replace battery, you need to undo the 4 screws hold the back casing. When these are removed you can open the back, revealing the battery. There is a black plug that pushes into a white socket on the pcb, with 4 wires coming out of it that goes to the battery. Pull this plug out and the battery then comes free. Hope this helps.
