SOURCE: Bosch dishwasher soap dispenser doesn't open

Welcome to FixYa.

This has become a popular issue with the newer style Bosch dishwasher, and I don`t know if this is the case in your situation, however if using "cubed" or "gel pack" type detergents the dispenser will often get stuck therefore preventing opening.

At a recent service seminar for the Bosch SHX/SHE "Evolution/Ascenta" series dishwasher`s I attended, it was suggested if a client is using the "cubed/gel pack" or even liquid detergent either place the cubes directly into the bottom of the dishwasher or in the case of liquid, switch to powder detergent since both liquid and cubes seem to have an issue of causing this problem.

I understand from experience of presenting this with many clients it may at first appear inconvenient or unacceptable, and many will balk at the idea. Unfortunately it is a reality and no physical repair to the machine will remedy the issue.

Try the suggestion and let me know how you find the unit performs. In my experience the unit actually will perform better actually, as the detergent`s nowadays without "phosphate" require a longer period to dissolve completely and therefore often don`t work nearly as well when being dispensed from the "cup/dispenser".

I`ll watch for your reply on the result or if you need further assistance. Thank you for choosing FixYa. Please take a moment to rate the info provided here today and a testimony if you feel it`s warranted.

Good luck.

As I look at the pictoral, it seems there are twelve screws that hold the inner door to the outer door. Youmust remove these and then separate the door parts. Then you will see the screws that hold the dispenser in place from inside the door.

SOURCE: Soap dispenser cover won't close

Main detergent cup won't close on GE Potscrubber 700 GSD700.A workaround is to add the additional detergent with rinse aid 18 minutes intothe wash cycle. To repair, switch off power through circuit breaker. Set timerknob to 12 o'clock. If the detergent cup lever spring opens the cup after it isclosed, remove screws on panel that holds detergent cup and remove the panel upand out of door. Remove timer cover by moving it right and pulling up to exposetimer, see photo 1. _1909.jpg If a spring is loose, it can be reattached as follows.Remove two screws that hold timer, then remove timer. Do not remove timer knobfrom front of GSD700 because knob is designed for removal from rear of panel, after the timer is out. If spring attachment point broke off, reinforce it withepoxy (JBKwik), see gray cone upper right of center in photo 2. _1910.jpg After epoxy cures, drill and tap a hole for a metric 3 - 0.5mm-8mm screw (4-40 may also work). Install spring between new screw anddispenser linkage and tighten screw, see photo 3. _1911.jpg Install timer, jiggle knob so it engages timer and securetimer with two screws. Pull dispenser lever down to make sure it moves andsprings back. Replace round switch and cover. Install white cover with leverextended through it. Install cover screws, close soap door, and rotate timer, soap door should open after about 90 degrees of rotation followed by rinse aidactuation.

I own a Bosch home Dishwasher - Model SGV53E03GB-74 - where the wash tablet discharge cavity opens in the wash cycle but doesn't allow the tablet to drop, so the wash is ineffective and needs

Sounds like the dispenser door isn't opening. If it isn't being blocked by dishes, the dispenser door spring might be broken, the dispenser release solenoid could be faulty, or not getting power from the control panel. While you're waiting for it to get fixed, you can just put the detergent in the bottom of the dishwasher and run it on normal cycle. It also possible the dispenser door isn't opening wide enough for the puck to fall out. Make sure the door opens freely under it's own spring assist.

If your dishwasher leaks, check these:

Main tub seal
Door gasket or seal
Water-inlet valve
Main tub seal Note… If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom of the dishwasher, the following instructions probably apply to you. But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the entire pump and motor assembly.

The main tub seal is beneath the drain impeller. It prevents the water in the dishwasher from leaking out near the shaft of the motor. To get to the seal, which is inside the dishwasher, remove the:

  • Lower rack

  • Spray arm

  • Spray arm support

  • Wash/drain impellers

Then pry the seal out of its housing and replace it.

Door gasket or seal Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the rubber tube leading from the valve to the inside of the dishwasher may leak. Tighten or repair/replace these as necessary.

The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open. When that happens, the water continues to flow into the dishwasher, which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher, and replace the valve.

Hoses Behind the lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastic hoses. If the leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If that doesn't work, replace the hose.

Soap dispenser flap not opening

Not a solution but exactly the same problem. I should have sent the machine back (I bought mine about 2008 too) but by now, 2010, the machine is a complete waste of time and money. The soap dispenser fails to open every time, wasting money, water and my patience because I then have to hand wash after all. will try the suggested oil trick, but it was obviously a bad design to start with.

Bosch dishwasher soap dispenser

all you have to do is take a flathead screwdriver and look at the dispenser it has a locking metal around thecase where the dispenser goes. it a press in and listen to it click thats when you know that section is in.the plastic around the dispenser is the section where it snaps in. also unplug the dispenser. its only one plug in. very easy but atrick that i use is make sure the rubber gasket is lubricated with something like dish soap.when installing it you have to push hard and listen for the snaps .nyc appliance repair can handle at 1-888-692-1055 based in nyc
