-   My External Wester Digital HDD (250GB) greatly increases Vista boot time. It adds roughly an additional 1-1.5 mins. to Vista's boot.

-   Disable in BIOS - SUPPORT USB LEGACCY DRIVES (or similar setting)-   SilverHand
vista is very slow. the 250 does not have very high speeds either. try connecting through a new port (usb?). you can boot without the drive connected, and then connect it. good luck mark
Its the motherboard problem. Just DISABLE in BIOS option in USB tab: SUPPORT USB LEGACCY - or similar to this. This helps on 90percent of motherboards.

This drive worked fine on my PC. USB powered. 250GB. Used it on a Mac. Didn't add or remove any files. May have disconnected without proper eject. When plugging in to PC it makes the 'My Computer' file run very slowly and, when the drive is picked up, doesn't seem to display what's on it (and when trying to access it the whole PC runs slowly).
