Tv will not recognise an antenna

I cant get my tv to search for channels over the air. I have the antenna pluged into a splitter and it works for the other tv on the far side of the house, but not for this one right next to it.

In the menu do you have the tunner option set to air? If you dont it wont be able to search antenna (air) channels.

Try to search for the channels using the antenna directly into the TV (remove the splitter) if you can pick up all the channels, then there is a problem with the splitter, if you still can't get anything, then most likely the tuner in the TV will be at fault.

My Tv no longer registers a signal from the antenna. I can see a picture thruogh my smart DVR and Chromecast but no pic with TV antenna. I bought a new antenna, still no signal.

Is the TV set to air or cable? It has to be set to air/antenna and a channel search has to be done first before a picture will show.

How do I get channels

ok,if you have a subscription to cable, you will have a cable box,you will only need to put your tv on cable and ch 3 or 4 on your tv,you dont need to search for channels,if you dont have a subscription, then you are trying to pick up over the air channels, they are called digital channels, you will need a digital tv antenna and your hdtv, you will change the settings on your tv to air or antenna, then you can search for digital channels, there are no more analog channels like we had when we are kids, they are all digital and dont need to be tuned in,if you still cant get channels please have someone help you.

I had a TV amplifier Channel Master 3042 I need to know how to connect it

This amp can be used with an off-air antenna or a cable box (up to channel 141).

With an antenna: Connect your antenna to the input. Connect the output to the tv's RF (antenna) input (if you're only driving one tv from this amp), or a splitter (if you're driving several tv's).

With a cable box: Connect the feed from the cable company to the amp's input. Connect the output to the input of the cable box.

I have done an autotune on my sony bravia tv but am not getting channel 9 sbs. the television in the bedroom is a smaller digital tv and that picks up all the channels. the two tv's are connected

Is the splitter an amplified splitter or not? Have you tried the channel search when you connect the antenna directly to the TV? (Disconnect the cables from the splitter and use a coupler to join them together.) Tuners do vary in their sensitivity. For digital signals, your TV should report the signal strength. This is often under the Settings sub-menu. Some TVs will give this information in the Channel Edit option.

If the straight through connection gives a better signal, check your antenna direction and try a different splitter. Amplification will often help; however, when my amplified splitter was damaged the less sensitive tuner lost a number of channels that the other TV received. (Looking at the signal strength, one TV was getting adequate signal with one bar out of 8. The other needed at least 4 bars to process the signal.)

I hope this helps.

My flat panel tv will not recognize the co-axal cable wire thats pluged into the back of it. Ive chose the all channel search and the digital channel search and neither of them seem to work. The tv always...

There isn't a tv signal on that coaxial cable. The other end of it is not connected to anything with an active signal. For example an indoor antenna, or an outdoor antenna, a cable TV company's active TV source (that you are payin for), or a satallite TV company that you are paying for them to turn on, also TV's do not have a built-in satallite tunner to tune in those sattallite channels, you have to use that company's external tunner box. No tunner box = no channels. Even U-Verse No Tunner Box = No TV.

Local TV channels drop out after a few minutes

We're still hanging on by our toenails waiting for a helpful response from FixYa. We did contact Philips tech support and they basically said that we need a new TV...so they're sending one to replace this one, and we are sending back the "old" one (that we just bought in December '08).

Initial channel search ineffective

If you use a top of set box this may be the problem. The tuner in the set could be bad but that don't happen very often. Some place you have a cable splitter that can go bad. Try anothe set on that cable line if it works ok then it is the set

Auto Search for Local channels not responding

Hi elmergdavis,
Check and make sure your tv is set to CABLE and not to AIR or ANTENNA. This setting is usually just above the Auto Search utility on the meNU.
Let me know what you find and I can provide further assistance.
