How do I check the seat Switch?

The easiest way but TEMPERARY is to bypass the is activated when the seat is down and deactivated or disconnected when the rider gets off the seat..try starting it with no one in the seat it should not attempt to start..lift the seat locate the switch and disconnect the using a small piece of wire ( Paper clip opened ) put the paper clip in the wire connections ( bypassing ) the switch ..try to start with no one on the seat or should start..if it does not it is not the switch..keep doing this to all the switches until you find the bad one...good luck.

How do I disconnect seat switch on my D120

I hate the idea of having a switch that requires you to be sitting for the tractor to work. A novel safety feature installed because too many people have fallen off the mower for unknown reasons and the mower has kept mowing without a driver. As with any safety device placed on equipment I can not recommend bypassing it. One thing to consider also is the tractor still under some type of warranty, if so by bypassing or altering the tractor in any way will void the warranty. If not here is a simple solution. Since this is a switch which in most cases is a simple open and close type find the switch under the seat and remove the two wires going to it. Tie the two wires together to complete the circuit and properly insulate and secure the connection so it does not ground out. This sould bypass the switch and tell the tractor that someone is sitting in the seat and motor on.

NOTE: By no means is this suggested for safety reasons. Advise anyone using the tractor if it is no you that the safety of the tractor has been altered and what alterations have been made so that they are aware of the dangers before operating the equipment. I would also be a good idea to have a sticker made up notifying the operator that the seat safety switch has been disabled.

Why does engine stop, when I take foot off brake pedal?

1 safety switch under seat. 1 on deck engage lever. 1 on brake. It sounds like the brake switch is working. its most likely your seat switch that is bad or out of adjustment. you can try bypassing switch by unplugging it from wires and run a piece of wire between the 2 contacts on the plug with the wires. If that works you need a new seat switch.

Mower cranks up but cuts off when put in gear

Hi, the seat switch is most likely faulty. You should be able to bypass it under the seat temporarily to prove that it is the problem. If so I suggest replacing the switch. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

Engine kills when engaging mower or clutch

There is a switch under your seat that senses if there is someone in the seat...that switch is bad and so it thinks that you are not in the seat and shuts down the motor...
find the switch, which will be underneath the seat and replace it....
Do not bypass it as it is a safety feature...

Need the wire diagram to rewire my Ariens lawnmover to bypass the safety switch. It is Ariens GT-19 model # 931026 Serial # 001463. Can you help? It is an old Ariens mower but still runs good but now I...

here is owner manual:
usually the switch is behind the ignition, sometimes at the N position of gearshift, just look for a switch with one wire coming in & one going out (usually the same color); disconnect the two wires & jumper them together to bypass the switch. Looks like yours has one under the seat.

I have a white outdoors riding mower....the mower shut off when i engage the the switch bad?.....can i by-pass it? do i test the switch????

Check the safety pressure switch under your seat. When you engage the PTO and get off the lawn mower, it will kill the engine. I had the same problem; drove me nuts. I thought it was the switch that is compressed when the PTO is engages. It wasn't. It was the safety under the seat. Bypassed and it worked fine. Ordered a new switch from a local repair shop. Good luck.
