Question about KitchenAid Dishwashers
I have a KitchenAid KUD1230B0 dishwasher, but I can't find that model number anywhere on the web. I'm positive about the number, except for the last character which may be a 0 or an O. Can you suggest a similar model I can lookup for parts and repair advice?

Dishwashers which are properly installed and regularly used won't normally have a problem with bad odors. Check the following: ?Was the drain hose brought in at the top of the cabinet, or down near the floor? it must be 34" from the floor. ?Do you run the unit at least once every 2 days? -Run a cycle with a quart of vinegar to clean the tub and pump. ?Does the disposal tend to back up slightly when the dishwasher drains? Drain may be clogged. -Don't use gel detergent! ?Check your water softener(If so equipped) These can cause foul odors in the water supply if not properly balanced or maintained Good luck!

OK, pretty easy fix. Look at diagram 10 here: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5164885
The link (#24) probably broke and the spring (#18) probably shot off and is lying somewhere behind the dishwasher. Just pull out the dishwasher (careful not to disconnect or crimp any of the hoses) and check to see if both springs (one on each side) can be located. Just replace the old links and re-hook the springs and all should be well.
You can order the link replacement (part #8194001) from kitchenaid at 1-800-422-1230.

yep you can just get springs from lowes or home dept or your local hardware store; they're often in with the hardware (i.e., screws) and not plumbing. remember that the springs need to stretch out a bit, too; so you may end up buying springs that look shorter than they should, but they eventually habituate.

SOURCE: spray arm doesn't turn
Probably blocked spray arms. Remove each spray arm and check and clean all the holes as this is where the water sprays out from to clean the dishes and glasses. When they are blocked you get poor wash results and the arms don't turn as well
