Printer won't work on wireless home network after being installed on laptop. We have installed it on two different laptops and selected it and it still won't print from either????? Any ideas would be appreciated. My son who isn't available had it working on another laptop using Vista earlier. It is hooked to a host computer using XP pro which is what these laptops are using.????

Usually this is a networking and firewall problem. Is the computer that is physically connected to the printer set to allow sharing the printer? Have you set the name of the printer to be exactly the same on all three computers? If you are using a better firewall than the basic one in Windows XP, have you set that to accept network traffic from the other computers in your home network? (This has to be done on all of the computers on the network so that they are in the same Workgroup.) Check that you allow bidirectional network traffic.

CAN THE DELL AIO 948 PRINTER BE USED FOR SHARING

Yes, If it is connected to a computer on your home network, right click the printer, setup sharing. For example, if you have a laptop on the same home network, Add a network printer to the laptop and print wirelessly without a wireless printer. I cannot connect to the WIFI at work, but I can connect to my WIFI network at home, and other public networks. The wireless network at work is pushed by a D-Link 8200AP with a WAP security, just like it is...

Your laptop cannot connect to your work's wireless network because the security settings (ir WAP) in the D-Link is different to the security setting in your Netgear.
The wireless card in your laptop will need the settings changed to suit the D-Link's wireless settings ie the SSID and WAP.
You will need to change the wireless card settings in your laptop back to the Netgear's wireless settings to connect to your wireless network at home.
Some wireless cards allow you to set up different profiles for different wireless networks which allow you to switch wireless networks easily by just selecting the profile for the network you want to connect to.

Can't get epson Stylus nx400 to print from wireless laptops. printer connected to desktop with windows xp pro. both laptops use windows vista home premium.

As your printer is not wireless itself you need to shared the printer. To enable this goto Control Panel on your desktop, select printers, right click your printer and there should be an option for sharing. Enable sharing.
Now using your Vista laptops you should connect to your home network (in your case this is probably a wireless router, as long as your desktop is connected to this router too), goto Control Panel, printers, add printer, search for printer not connected to this copmputer (or network printer).
Hopefully the Vista laptops will then pick it up and install it correctly. You may be asked to install the correct driver for the vista machines. Windows should provide you with instructions on how to do this.
Hope this helps, www.PuterCare.com

HP photosmart C5580 wireless printing problem

You laptop will not be able to connect to the printer using the bluetooth technology. But the good news is that you can use the printer thru your home network by having the desktop that the printer is connected to be part of the same home network that your laptop is part of and then share your printer on our desktop and then select it as a printer to use on your laptop.
This link has instructions for all of your home network instructions.

Wireless printing from laptop

If you have your laptop and pc networked you can simply "share the printer....If not, you have to do that first......then "Right click" on your canon printer icon in "Printers and Faxes", left click "sharing", select "share this printer and name it whatever you want.
Then go to "add printers" (on your Laptop), "add printer" (the add printer wizard comes up), click "next", slect "a network printer..", select "browse for Printer". In the next box you should see your home network, you may have to click on this to search for available resources, then you should see your printer, double click on it to transfer the files to your laptop. You can use this process for any and all printers you may have conected.
You are now sharing the printer from your PC, so keep in mind that it has to be "ON" in order to print from your laptop.

How do i build a local area network in windows xp?

On the machine that the printer is connected to go to Start>Control Panel>Printer and Faxes>Right click the Printer that you want to Network and Left Click Sharing> Select the Option to Share the printer and Name it something that you wil remeber. On the Laptop go to printers and Faxes select add new printer and select Network Printer. And Choose the second option Put the Name of the Computer that the printer is connected to and then printer name. Example \\Desktop\HpPhotoSmart 8100. Also you will need to check to make sure that both machines are on the same Domain\Work Group. Go to Start>Control Panel >System>Computer Name Tab ( Here verify the Machines Name)> Join or Change Domain>Put the machines on the same Workgroup if they are not, Do the same on the laptop. To test this, on the laptop go to Start>run and type \\Desktop Name and you should see what is able to be shared. Walk thru the steps above to install the printer on the laptop and have the intall cd in the laptop to install the drivers and you should be good to go. I hope this is understandable. If not feel free to email me at smichael@phoenixschool.net and I will see if I can clarify this for you. Happy networking!

Trying to set up a network printer with DELL TRUEMIBILE 2350...please help

using windows xp on all the computers, when you connect to the printer windows should automatically install drivers.

1. Goto My Computer, Click My Network Places (Explorer Bar).
2. Click View Workgroup Computers (Explorer Bar)
3. Find the computer that has the printer physically connected to it, open it
4. Find the printer and right click it!
5 Select Connect... and wait for the drivers to install.

this should install the print drivers and install the printer on your computer. the printer should now be available in print dialogs i.e. word etc etc and from the Control Panel > Printers window.
