Nikon coolpix 1600 memory card write protected

Tried removing card and swithced the lock back and forth, trying it both ways. Nothing! Tried formating the disk, but skips that option in the menu area. Tried resetting the camera to factory settings. Nothing! Then tried a new card, but still recieved the same message. Any suggestions?

Take your memory card out and look to see if you may have moved the sliding switch on the memory card, if you have move it back.

Write Protection: There is a tab on the memory card so you will you need to remove it from the camera and change the position of this tab to "unlock" it.

SOURCE: "memory card is write protected"?? but it's not the memory card!

It's not the camera. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Says memory card is write protected and wont let me do anything

Remove the memory card from the camera, look along the one edge for a switch, slide it toward the contacts to unlock. The switch that is farthest from the contacts is in the locked position, slide it back and forth to reset. If that fails replace the card.

Canon SD1200 IS won't save pictures to the memory card.

This Canon uses an SD memory card (previous Canon used CF cards).
The SD memory card has a "slide switch" that locks the card.
Look at the SD memory card and move the switch back and forth, then switch it all the way to the UNLOCK position. Put back in the camera and format the card, then use it.

Since this is a 10Megapixel camera, use at least a 2GB SD memory card. A 2GB SD card will hold 700 pictures, or so, in the best setting.

Hope this helps!

Solution 1 Card has a protection tab, it could be in the locked position, try moving it. then try in camera.

Flash memory card

Perhaps it didn't complete formatting. This happened to my mom and I tried her card in my camera and it wouldn't work there either. We had to replace. You might take it back since you just bought it. That way, you will know if it's the card or the camera.
