Sounds like you may have a sock or something stuck between the drum and the front felt seal...or maybe your drum roller needs lubrication or replacement.
If you have a front loading machine you would normally pull the front of the machine off, that will expose the drum and seal, if you remove the drum, then that will expose the rollers.
Lube the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as
3 in One oil.
I hope this helps

Dryer makes a loud scweaking sound

THAT HAPPENS AS DRYERS GET OLDER, NORMALLY ITS JUST NEEDING THE BELT REPLACED, IF YOUR PUTTING IN HEAVY LOADS THE BELT IS HAVING A HARD TIME TURNING THE DRUM, AND EVENTUALLY IT WILL JUST QUIT OR BURN UP THE MOTOR IN IT IF YOU DONT GET IT FIXED.

I get a rather loud rumbling sound when I first start up the dryer the drum is turning but still getting the rumbling sound but not as loud.

Sounds like you need rear rollers or you have a bad blower wheel. If you turn the dryer off and still hear the rumble for a few seconds its the blower wheel. If the rumbling stops instantly then you have bad rear rollers. Hope this helps.

Drum will turn empty but will not turn with heavy wet clothes in dryer. Is it a bad motor?

no, most likely, especially if it sounds right, it is a bad belt. The reason why i say if it sounds right is because the machine don't know the difference. if it was the motor you would hear a really loud hum before it stopped and then maybe it would start back up and hum some more. if your clothes are really heavy like dripping on your feet heavy. then you have a problem with your washer. Probably a transmission.

Today our dryer quit drying. It hums but is not tumbling.

Dryers are belt driven. Something has locked the drum or motor, and that is why you hear the humming sound. With the dryer turned off, reach inside the drum and try to turn it. It should turn pretty freely. There will always be some drag. If you need a lot of effort to turn the drum, then it is time to investigate what is causing the drag. Probably, something has gotten wedged between the drum and the front wall of the dryer.

If you cannot find anything there, then it could be helpful to remove the outer shell from the dryer and investigate further to find the source of the drag. This requires some mechanical skill, so think carefully if you want to try it or call a service company or simply replace the dryer. A used dryer can cost $100 or less.

The dryer is making a loud noise. Think its the

the belt that spins the dryers drum around has a belt tensioner located at the botton base of the body. If the roller bearing goes bad the sound you hear is caused by that. Replace the belt as well when replacing the roller or the whole tensioner if needed

Drum not turning-very loud sound coming frm dryer when turned on

There could be multiple problems with you whirlpool dyer depending on the type of noise you are hearing. If the noise is a low grumble or loud buzzing sound this could indicate a bad motor. Which could explain you not hearing the drum turning. If however you hear a grating or grinding type noise but the drum is turning, this could indicate that something is rubbing or has become jammed inside the blower fan that circulates the air. if this is the case it too may have to be replaced. Also the drum can sometime come off the drum support rollers at the back of the dryer, but this is very uncommon, and only happens if they are very worn or broken. This can easily be diagnosed by a technician and if the motor is fine, will cost little to repair.Hope this helps.

Thanks
