Chain saw cuts great at start, not so good about 1/2 way

Saw begins the cut fine, but about 1/3 to 1/2 the way through the saw struggles to cut anymore, chain spins freely, just not cutting. New chain was installed today.

Nah, it's not pinching, tried cutting both horizontal and vertically with the saw. It's not bogging down thats for sure, it's almost as if the saw just cant get a bite after it's been going for about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way through something. Little stuff is fine, less than 1 1/2 inch thick, but anything over 2 inches, the saw just wont cut anymore after a certain depth. Ive been reading the the Homelite 360 20" saw I have seems to have issues with chain tension as well as bar issues. Is it possible the bar may be bent?

Is what you are cutting pinching the bar? Try cutting up from the bottom (careful if it pinches it pushes handle toward you) better? If she is to lean it may bog down down under load. Try to richen (ccw) the H carburetor screw a little. If it has EPA limiters installed take it to a local saw shop. Respond to me please (Below) with what you find. TIA Lou

All things are possible but it isn't likely the bar is bent. Are you getting fairly large chips or sawdust? Try raising the rear of the saw a little when she quits cutting. so you have a small contact area instead of a wide flat cut. Run a flat file at an angle along both edges of the bar to remove any wire edge. Let me know what you find you have piqued my curiosity. Lou

Is the cut straight? Or dose it cut to left or right? If the cut is not straight with a new chain your bar may be worn uneavenly and needs to be replaced.

Does the saw run freely when not cutting? Dont press too hard, let the saw do the work. Is the cut compressing? Pull the saw out and under cut. Drive a plastic wedge in to the log

Saw runs great, however when cutting;the kerf goes to the left.Replaced the chain recently and it cut fine for a few cuts then started the same problem. Could it be the bar grove is worn and needs...

You probably have a warped bar. Remove side cover and chain, then remove and reverse bar ( move the top to the bottom ) . Pour bar and chain oil on the tip of your bar and spin gear inside with a flat screwdriver to allow oil total penetration. re - install chain and side cover, adjust chain and tighten cover.Make sure you keep the oil reservoir full - refill everytime you add fuel. When it starts cutting crooked just reverse the bar again.

Can start the saw but when beginning the cut the saw power declines and will not cut. Please advise

The chain may need proper sharpening--it should not have to be forced to cut quickly. Make sure the bar and chain are being oiled enough. If the engine speed does not decline much, but the chain speed slows down, the clutch assembly may be full of oil (remove the cover and wash out the clutch with spray carburetor cleaner). Make sure the chain is properly tensioned--it should be tight to the bar, but able to be moved fairly easily by hand. Check the fuel filter and air cleaner for plugging. Make sure the fuel lines are in good condition. Hope some of this helps!

Chain saw starts fine, idles fine, and powers up fine when not cutting a long how when starting to cut a log it bogs down and dies. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or what’s wrong with the chain...

Two things that can cause this problem. 1. Your carburetor is not set properly and is not letting the engine get enough fuel under a load. 2. Your chain is binding when you put the chain bar down on the log. Make sure your front chain sproket is turning free and is not too sloppy.

Why my chain saw always cuts at an angle

a lot of people have this problem with a chain saw and cant get a strate cut, most of the time its down to them trying to force the saw through the wood and in doing this the saw cuts around corners as there pull is not square to the cut,, let the saw do the work, not you, if your pulling on the saw to make it cut well then it has a very dull or blunt blade,,,is there any side to side "rock" on the chain in this new bar? how have you sharpend it? dose the chain have the same pitch on both side's? are all the teeth cutting at the same depth? if its cutting around corners it could still be the chain pitch worn out, if so the chain is past its best as well, but most of the time its all down to how hard and how squarely your pulling on the blade when cutting,,,the first thing in logging to lurn is to cut squarely no easy task that! just dont force the saw to cut!! it will cut just as fast or faster without forseing it,, if all this still dont get you cutting right change the chain for a new one,,,the only hard work with a chain saw is holding it up to the tree and humping it around not cutting with it, thats the blade's job to do so the faster you try to make it cut the more out of true the cut go's as all your doing is bending the bar out of alinement,,all in all, its two hands for the job and a very gentle pressure on the saw, start the cut with the blade spinning and dont stop the blade in the wood, cut right through

Husqvarna 345 power loss and vibrates

Replace the bar. Your bar has gone bad and that is why you are losing power. Bars are made by the chain saws to be completely oiled at all times. When the bar does not get oil the bar will start to warp and that is what will cause you lack of power when trying to due a top cut
