Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Does not turn on. The outlet is good and checked the AC plug wiring. All is good. After plugging it in, nothing lights up or indicates that it is recieving power. Faulty on/off button? Is there a built in reset switch? Or is this A/C toast.

You need to provide more information on the A/C make, model, etc, usually the reset for the A/C is external and no inside reset…can you open the unit and see if the unit getting any electric? It may be just a bad switch, small job. Also check the fuse box it may need resetting as they usually do not show that they are out and need just to be put off again and on… see what will happen then we can go to the next step, remind you that we can not see any information that passed between you and other techs....let me know if that work for you and please do not forget to rate my service so I am able to continue providing same...god bless

Dead br1342z

Hi, By "it looks like is dead", I will assume you mean when plug to the mains, no light indicator and will not power on. If yes, a couple of things you can do to confirm and first aid: 1. Make sure there is power at the outlet/mains. Plug in another electrical device to where the TV was plugged such as lampshade or cell phone charger that will light up/indicate that indeed there is power; 2. Check the AC cord to make sure that there are no breaks, exposed wire, bent plug terminal, soft spot or indications of anything out of the ordinary. If available and possible, replace the cord; 3. Plug the TV to a known good outlet and try powering up, you can also try jarring the TV a bit to shake it up such as a solid thump to the side or to the back would help determine if there is a loose connection or partial open circuit or cold solder; 4. If comfortable doing so, open the back cover and check where the AC wire leads to. Normally there would be a fuse somewhere near it. With the TV unplug, determine if fuse is open or simply replace with a known good fuse of the same rating; 5. Since the back is open, inspect the inside of the TV for any burnt marks, lingering smell of burning or ozone, loose connection or dangling wires. Try the unit again. If all else fails, it may be to your advantage to have a qualified service professional have a look at it with consideration of course for the repair charges for a 13in. Good luck and hope this work out for you or give you an idea. Post back how things stand or should you need further information. Kind regards.

Hp 764c will not power up

First check if your adapter is good. Most adapter has an LED indicator, then check your AC outlet. Be sure to firmly insert mthe plug of the adapter onto your laptop's power socket, most laptop do have an LED indicator. IF you haven't seen any lights, that means the adapter or the plug or the socket is bad.
Good luck

My Samsung HT-DM550 shows "lock"

Be careful to do this with AC cable disconnected from AC outlet! If you have some experience with electronics, disconnect the wired plugs from power supply and discharge electrolitic capacitors to ground with a 330 ohm 1 watt resistor. Then reconnect the wired plugs. Be careful to do this with AC cable disconnected from AC outlet! Then connect to AC outlet and turn on the DVD player. You will see that DVD player restores to normal operation again.

Does not start; no power indicator light

Take out the battery and then try the different ac adaptors. If you still get no lights on the laptop then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced. Just make sure that you know at least one of your ac adaptors are good.

If the adaptors have lights and they turn on then you know the ac adaptor your working with is good. Also make sure they are plugged into a good working outlet.

Shut off and won't come back. It's like it is dead.

follow this procedure:
1. unplug the ac adapter and keep it unplugged.
2. Remove the battery and keep the battery unplugged.
3. Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds(Nothing will appear on the display and none of the lights will light up)
4. Release the power button and plug in the ac adapter ONLY. (A power indicator light should be lit on the ac adapter when it is plugged in)
5. Normally power on the notebook.
6. If the unit does not power on, remove the ac adapter and insert the battery into the system.
7. Plug the ac adapter back into the system, the battery charging indicator light will light up. If the battery indicator light does not light up, the ac adapter may not be providing proper power to the unit, and may need to be replaced.

HP DV2036ea i have a blank screen on the computer

Hello there

Description.

When pressing the notebook power button nothing is displayed on the screen or display. The cause of this problem may be a failed AC adapter, the memory modules (RAM) need to be reseated or a failed notebook system board component which will require an HP certified repair.

Below steps will assist in identifying the cause of the problem and suggest the best solution. Test the AC adapter Follow the steps below to determine whether the problem is related to the AC adapter or your notebook system board.
  1. Remove the battery and disconnect all external devices from the computer.
  2. Hold the Power button for several seconds, with all power sources removed. This drains residual power from the system, and may correct many problems.
  3. Connect the AC adapter to a wall outlet and plug the other end into the computer.
  4. Press the Power button to start the notebook PC.
If the notebook does not start or the display is blank then check the power indicator light or power socket LED. Check the power indicator light or power socket LED On newer models of notebook PCs, there is an LED or indicator light around the power socket on the notebook. Check to see if this light is on or off, when the notebook is plugged into AC power. The power indicator light or power socket light should turn on when the AC adapter is connected.

  • If the light does not turn on then the problem is most likely related to the AC adapter or the electrical source in your home or office. Go to the Light does not turn on section on this page.
  • If the light does turn on but the notebook does not start or the there is a blank screen then continue to the Light does turn on but the notebook does not start section on this page

The light does not turn on when the AC adapter is connected If the power indicator LED is off, the AC power adapter may need to be replaced. To determine if the AC power adapter needs to be replaced follow the steps below:
  1. Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged directly into a known working wall outlet.
NOTE: To check the wall outlet, plug in a different known working device like a light, radio etc.
  2. Check all of the following connections:
    • The connection from the power cord to the wall outlet.
    • The connection into the power adapter from the power cord.
    • The connection from the AC adapter to the notebook power socket.
  3. Press the power button again to test the notebook PC.
If the power indicator light still does not turn on, then the AC Adapter needs to be replaced. Contact HP Service and Support for further assistance. Power socket LED or power indicator light is on but the notebook does not start If notebook power indicator light (LED) is on, the AC adapter is working correctly. The problem is a result of a hardware failure in the notebook itself. In some cases, reseating the memory module (RAM) may solve the problem.

*****Reseating the RAM may resolve this issue.****
Step 1 - Remove the battery
  1. Slide and hold the battery release latch to the unlock position.
  2. Use your finger to lift the battery up and out.
Step 2 - Remove the memory module
  1. Locate the memory module cover on the bottom of the notebook.
  2. Remove the screw that covers the memory module.
  3. Use your finger or a flat head screw driver to lift the inside edge of the memory module and remove it.
  4. Push both tabs outward simultaneously to release the memory module.
  5. Grasp the memory module by the edges and pull gently to remove it.
  6. After removing one module, replace the memory expansion cover and then replace the screw.
Step 3 - Replace the battery
  1. Insert the battery into the notebook.
  2. Push the battery into the base enclosure until you hear a click.
  3. Connect the AC adapter and turn on the notebook.
fter the memory is reseated, connect the AC adapter and turn on the notebook. If the notebook boots normally and the Windows desktop appears no further action is needed. If this problem re-occurs often, contact an HP Support Specialist to schedule a repair.
