Aragon 4004 mkII repair

Hi--I've got an Aragon MkII 4004 amp that needs repair. I live in Utah, so looking for a place hopefully in Salt Lake or on the West Coast to repair it. Tried Soundwell in Berkeley, but they don't take shipments, and Jim's Electronics in Eugenel, OR, but they don't call back. Maybe somebody in LA? Thanks.

What does Aragon suggest?

I'm in Vermont so shipping might cost you a bit.

Where to find expert repair for an Aragon 28k preamplifier

I can tell you what's wrong with it. Fuses blow when there's an overload. The cause being either the power supply or a shorted transistor on the main amp.

I can't tell you were to take it though since I have never heard of the make. Any repair person who repairs Audio amps should be able to fix it, depending if they can get hold of the parts.

I own a Aragon 4004 mkII. Recently the the banana plugs on the right speaker output touched bridging a contact. The amp had been turned on and left on for up to 10min with this short occuring. Now the...

Tough one. I repair these for a living. A number of possibilities exist. Likely output transistors are blown on the bad channel. Fuses are likely blown. If the fuses are BLACK inside, don't just put new fuses in, more damage WILL occur. This is a bit more than 'good with a soldering iron' will fix. You need to know how to test an output transistor. You need to look up the transistor type so you know what it is. A service manual will be a big help (I could not find one online.) If more than two outputs are gone on the one side, all should be changed, they are supposed to be MATCHED. Remove and replace all damaged outputs, or replace them all if two are blown. Find the driver transistors and check them for short circuits. After repair, start the amp on a dummy load of a 250watt light bulb to prevent destroying the amp if there is a problem. If you are unsure of any part of this, find an electronics technician to help.

Is there anywhere we can get a detailed users manual?

Yeah, using a common search engine, which is always a good place to start a quest before asking Experts.

"Aragon 28K manual" turns it up.

I have Aragon 8002. I have a problem because I have no fuse. What fuse is used at 220V? Thanks, John

Have you the remains of the fuse, or was it just not in place when you got it?
The reason I ask is that the amp's fuse doesn't have much to do with the voltage of the mains supply (in your case a 250V fuse will cover it). It goes on the load in Amps or Milli-amps. Shown as A or MA. If you have the old fuse you might be able to see it on the case of the fuse. It might say 1.5A or 500ma etc. Also there are two main types of fuse, known as fast and slow blow fuses. Again if you have the old fuse the remains of a coil inside will mean it's a slow type. The other type is just a wire. However you can fit a fast blow for a slow one. If the fuse blows again it will be a fault that causes it.
If you have no fuse left at all you will either need to find someone who has the same amp and to tell you what it is, or the circuit diagram for the amp. Sometimes it's even printed on the PC board!

Where I can get mains transformer KLT5P035YE for Teac A-H300? Thanks

I know this thread is a couple of years old, but this may help someone with the same problem.
There doesn't seem to be a supply of A-H300 transformers for direct replacement, but you can utilise the transformer from the MKII version of the amplifier with a little modification.
The output voltages from the MKII transformer are exactly the same, but two of the connectors have changed, so you will need to salvage these connectors from the original transformer to modify the MKII version.
The physical size is also a little different, but it will fit. I found that I had to remove the excess 'tags' that remain on the lower circuit board to give enough space for the transformer to align with two of the original mounting holes & I drilled one extra hole in the replacement tranformer baseplate so that a third screw could be used.
Hope this helps someone!

The left channel is damaged.

Have you replaced the semiconductors for the left channel on the heatsink. These are the main culprits for speaker damage.

I have two aragon 2002 power amps i want to hook them up mono how do i do that

Aragon 2002 is not a mono block amp, if it is you can bridge with the identical amp, actually you can make use of the power of two amps if you are using dual coil subs, one amp each coil.Or conect the amps in parallel but the amps must have an accurate phasing performance.

Dual mono?

If it had dual power supplies, the unit would still have sound on one channel
