Inspiron 531 wont boot up. just get dell screen then says Sata 0 Sata 1 Tsst corp DVD sata 2 None sata 3 None

If yo are sure that you have a working operating system on your hard disk , and this error started after you (probably) defaulted the Bios settings or something else did ....Than I think the lack of sata raid driver makes the reading of your hard disk impossible ..To fix this ..either try to reinstall the operation system and during it ..choose to add a 3rd party driver (look for raid driver on your motherboard cd ..or on the manufacturer's support site ) ..or ..just get into Bios again ..look for the HDD in the advanced options ..and select the hdd 0 ..and eliminate the achi feature ..and replace it with sata as ide ..or compatible ..and save settings with F10 and restart ..It will make the hdd visible ..and support installation if it has non ...or just boot up ..but will work as IDE and not raid ..

Controller MSI K8N Neo4 does not work

SHUT DOWN COMPUTER AND CLEAR CMOS BY RESETTING JUMPER ON MOTHERBOARD AND THEN RETURN JUMPER TO NORMAL POSITION OR USE RESET BUTTON. UNPLUG ALL HDD SATA CONNECTORS FROM HDD. BOOT COMPUTER TO BIOS. MAKE SURE ENABLE ALL SATA IS ENABLED, PRESS F10 AND EXIT.YOU WANT TO SHUT DOWN AGAIN. NOW REATTACH SATA HDD AND CONNECTORS AND BOOT TO BIOS AGAIN. NOW HIT F10 AND LET COMPUTER RESTART AND LOAD INTO THE OS. LOGON AND CHECK DEVICE MANAGER..SHOULD BE THERE. IF NOT CHECK MOTHER BOARD WEB SITE FOR BIOS UPDATE. IF BIOS UPDATE DOESN'T DO THE TRICK, SHUT DOWN AND DISCONNECT THE IDE DRIVE, UNLESS IT CONTAINS YOUR OS. TRY BOOTING TO BIOS AND CHANGE ORDER OF 1ST BOOT OPTIONS, HIT F10 AND EXIT AND ALLOW COMPUTER TO BOOT TO OS, THEN LOGON, GO TO DEVICE MANAGER AND REMOVE IDE AND RESTART, ONLY IF THIS HDD DOES NOT CONTAIN OS. YOU SHOULD BE FINE AFTER THIS, OR INSTALL YOUR OS ON THE SATA HDD.

Hello, I have Sata HDD it was working fine before few hours and now its saying No Bootable Device Detected -- Insert boot disk and press any key.I had Vista Installing.I tried installing RAID Drivers...

Have you gone into your computers BIOS settings to make sure that your HDD is configured and that it is recognized? My room mate has a computer that just "looses" it's HDD in the BIOS and forgets that it existed. To get into your BIOS, more than likely you'll hold down the "delete" key or the f12 or f10 keys when you power up the computer and it'll ask you if you want the additional settings options, or it'll just pop into your BIOS. You'll look through it (Be careful!) and on the 2nd screen most likely you'll see options to set a boot order. You'll want to make sure that your HDD is listed in here or else the computer is not looking for it to boot from. You'll probably want to have your floppy first, and CD 2nd, and leave your HDD for 3rd for booting options. Depending which version of Vista you're installing, it may not support RAID. Microsoft only saves that for it higher end/priced OS's that the corp's are willing to pay for so they feel like they're getting their money's worth.

Computer won't boot

I think I can help you with this. You have listed your pc as a pressario desktop. I have to make some assumptions, so bear with me.

The first is, that this computer is designed to work with IDE or EIDE hard drives.

You'll need to get into the BIOS or SETUP on the computer. Once in there (this is before the computer runs) you have to tell the computer where it will find the operating system.

There should be a heading called BOOT, and when you are under this heading, there should be a sub heading for the hard drives, and the priority given to them.

Yours should be a ADD ON CARD because this Pressario is designed for IDE (again, I'm making that assumption) and the default is to look there for your OS.

With the boot set to look at add on cards, you should be able to boot to the SATA drive.

good luck

Bios problem

first of all enter into the BIOS SETUP and than check there wheather it detect the SATA HDD OR NOT. IF not than there is option in bios to detect the sata hdd please set it properly to detect sata hdd. it might be set to RAID or something else. and this will definitely solve your problem and you will be able to detect the sata HDD.

XP wont be able to detect your hdd as you are using a SATA drive. You have two options here

1. Disable SATA function in the bios (easier to do) and use again your XP cd to install the software, it should be able to detect the hdd this time around

2. You have to slip stream the SATA driver to your XP CD and recreate another CD from it. (harder to do). Google "SATA driver slipstream XP" you will be directed to the proper sites

I can't use HDD sata on mainboard ASUS P5RD1-VM

Things need to be turned on in your bios patrohi. This is why windows didn't boot to the SATA. You need to use your manual & make sure the, Serial ATA Controller is [Enabled]
Within the Advanved menue under SouthBridge Configuration.
At the Main menue the SATA drive should be listed.
Boot settings need to change as well. At Boot Settings Configurations. Make sure your SATA drive is listed.
Boot order should list like, Floppy 1st, CDROM 2nd, SATA 3rd. The SATA will not list as a SATA but the model number of the SATA drive. Once all these settings are set save & exit. Your drive should show up for work & the windows CD should load.

There is option in BIOS called something about automated SATA recognition or similar - disable it. It is under System configuration. And if you are putting new drive in then run full test from BIOS (Hard drive selftest - takes about 79min.)
I tried to reinstall Windows Media center on my HP dv6000 because my previous hdd crashed - When I put in installation cd - it said that it can't find hdd. I spent week to figuring that out. The thing is - as far as you haven't disabled that SATA thing in BIOS - PC doesn't recognize hdd. But only with Windows media center edition. With all other windows xp - there is no such problems. Strange.
