Model DTV1300A Sansui color TV shuts off by itself after a minute or two. Any ideas why this 'feature' suddenly presented itself? Thank you!

Thank you! You seem very sure about the diagnosis....seen this B4? Any idea if the cost of repair would be reasonable? The unit was built in August 2007.

    Best regards,

Thank you, ladywinn....The TV always just shuts off after a minute or 2 once turned on. Sleep function is set at '0' (off). I just plugged it back in after a 3 day 'rest', and it's still running after 10 minutes, although not plugged into an incoming source, just powered on. Of course, I'm hoping the problem has disappeared, but I expect it to return. I was also advised that my PS was faulty thru another FixYa guru, but this person did not respond to my question about his/her certainty, as that first diagnosis was very short & sweet. You provided more details, but did not allude to the possible PS problem. Being a small TV, of course, the $$ to repair may well be prohibitive if I can even find someone who works on Sansui equipment.

Thank you for your input, my friend.

Let me make sure I understand / Does TV still Play or has it shut down? Is TV playing then it just shuts off how long does it play each time , also make sure you do not have sleep Timer ON Sometimes when they start doing crazy things TVs have cold solder joints and needs all poor connection resolder starting with the FBT flyback transfomer!

If you can Solder the whole power board This more then likely will slove your problem With the way TVs are made today most of the time its cold solder joints on chassis Call a TV REPAIR SHOP near you and ask what do they charge? On this new suff I always start out with resoldering FBT then all other connections pionts most of the time this fixes it. If set shuts down and am sure their is no shorted parts I jump the relay switch which will then tell me what is wrong if set comes up Ck componets in relay turn on circuit, most time its a 470uf 200v capacitor or 47uf 100v cap behind or next to FBT

Sansui model dtv2798 shuts off after one minute

Since the TV comes On, like you mentioned on your post above

it could be from a failing power supply or from other circuits.

Could be dried or bad capacitors , or just maybe cold solder joints.

If you need to DIY,

Here are some basic info how the TV works ,

Sansui 13" DTV1300 shuts itself off

My girlfriend had the same issue with her 1300a. We saw on another forum that they took off the extra AV panel and infared receiver, so we opened it up. We couldn't really find either, but when we tightened all the plugs up things seem to be working fine again. Back to watching the Lifetime channel :(

DTV1300A Sansui is not dtv ready, Am I doing something wrong?

To put your digital channels into the memory of the DTV1300 or 1900 press the MENU/ENTER button. Go to CH SETUP. Press the VOL + button. Go to TV CABLE. Use VOL+ button to set to TV for antenna or CABLE for cable without a cable box. Go to AUTO CH MEMORY. Press the VOL+ button. Wait for the search screen to go away after the analog and digital searches finish on their own. Check ALL your channels with the CH up button. I hope this helps you.

TV shuts itself off after a few minutes. Will also shut itself off if the DVD open/close button is pushed. Not sure if a DVD is in the machine or not. Any ideas??

I know that shortly after I purchased this tv mine also shut itself off occasionally. The owners manual says that if it is on dvd mode and it's paused or on an inactive menu or something for 15 minutes or so that it would shut itself off. If a dvd is stuck inside it may be causing this? I have no idea about the open/close malfunction.
