My 89 accord has alot of oil and smoke blowback into carb. I had the head replaced and when i got the car back this is when it started.I have good compression on all cylinders
cooper the car has 120,000 miles on it do you still think it might be a rebuild? I heard that if the main return oil port is covered by the new head gasket it can cause this problem .What is your opinion. thanks,d43cooper the car has 120,000 miles on it do you still think it might be a rebuild? white smoke (alot) usually means water/antifreeze getting into firing chamber- head gasket(most likely) or a cracked head/block (less likely)- check oil dipstick- if oil is "milky" definite leak somewhere
white smoke is water lite blue or black smoke is oil. Replacing the main bearing would not cause it to smoke, Could be eather a bad plug not getting fire or oil fillen, or bad ring's good luck to you.
If it is a constant smoke and or alot, your head gasket is blown. stop driving it if you want to save this engine. also engines with really high miles don't like head jobs, remanned heads can blow out the rings on the pistons and that leads to an engine rebuild. If your car has really high miles , you would be better off replacing the engine
it is very possible that you have water leaking from somewhere...it is possibly a leak at the head gasket between the cylinders...do a compression check
the head gaskets are blown you can believe that anytime on any engine gas or deisel that you get oil in the radiator and there water/ antifreeze in the oil pan the gaskets and or cylinder heads are bad
It could be a oil control ring on piston or oil control valve on head or valve guides to worn or improper valve seal replacement or head gasket cracked head etc
The bolts that hold on the valve covers may be loose, causing it to leak a little and burning oil. It happened to me once before. I tightened them up and no more problems. It may also possibly be that the valve cover gasket needs replacing
White smoke out of the exhaust is one indication that the head gasket is blown. Another is to start the car and check the oil on the dipstick. If it's frothy or looks like a milkshake, this is another indication of a blown head gasket. The milky appearance indicates that coolant is in your engine, caused by a bad head gasket. If none of these symptoms occur, then the problem lies elsewhere. Hope this answers your question and feel free to post back with any other concerns or questions. Thank you.

You will need to check head gasket. Please check the oil for coolant (milky deposition or presipitation). Also check if you loosing coolant and if coolant has oil in it.
Please kindly let me know if you need more info
Good Luck
