Question about Acer Aspire™ T180 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Audio/Video questions Hi everyone, I've got a t180 and I'd like to hook it up to my 5.1 receiver. The t180 is specifically the UA380B, as far as I/O goes, there's a headphone and mic jack on the front, and on the rear there's a mic/line-in/speaker out as well as jacks for rear left, right, and subwoofer.  My receiver has inputs for optical, digital coax, and regular RCA red/white. What's the best connection I could make from the computer to the receiver? Does the PC only output analog? Is there a way I can get digital 5.1 to my receiver? Also, I'd like to be able to hook this computer up to my TV to act as a display, I'm assuming I'll need a video card for that. What's a cheap, effective card or other solution? Thanks!

As to your audio the only way for you to get 5.1 is to get a sound card that supports it i think the computer you have only supports 2.1. you can find a cheap sound card at places like tigerdirect or newegg, also try ebay. same goes for your video you need to find one with a tv output.

Is it possible to hook up my iPhone 5 to play music through this receiver (specifically Pandora)?

If you get a mini-headphone to rca cable then you should be able to hook the phone's headphone output to an rca input on the receiver and play through there.

Depending what graphics is installed you will need a graphic card which supports dual output which is PCI express x16. Depending how good you need the graphics quality you can pick them up quite cheap. Cheers from Scott and plz vote

Can't get audio from HD TV to run through Yamaha receiver speaker

be more specific!...how is the tv hooked up? hdmi, component, straight to the tv, or into the amp then tv?....what audio out? optical, digital? also what are you trying to view? local programming? cable/sat? dvd? your best bet is to ignore video on the amp and go straight to tv. can't help u more until i have more specifics.

Composite Video hook-up question

Generally, you only need one 'full' set of connections. If you are using s-video, you'll still need audio red and white or fiber...not both. Fiber is better. Where are you going to get your audio from? That's where you'll want to direct your feed. Some people cheat and run the red/white to the TV when they're too lazy to turn on the receiver! Mute it if it annoys you.
