97 Buick Regal - Fill Coolant Light came on, the tank was drained to the bottom. When I fill up the radiator reserve tank the fluid is coming out of a small, 1/2 inch diameter maybe, black rubber hose sticking out a little from the firewall. I can't tell if something fell off or not or if this is some overflow line. As I fill it the tank drains to the bottom out this hose.

The heater core inside the passenger compartment is leaking. The water is draining through the Air Conditioner condensor drain tube. Don't plug the drain tube, the passenger side floor will get wet.

First, drain cooling system (or be quick) and disconnect the two heater hoses that are going into the firewall and splice the ends together with a 5/8" garden hose splicer.
The leak will stop, but your heater will not heat the interior.

Replace the heater core....

The low coolant light is continually on in my 1998 Buick Regal. The people at Jiffy lube tell me not to worry about it. I brought it to a mechanic today and they thought the sensor needed to be replaced....

Hello: The low coolant light sensor is in the radiator tank on the passenger side. Sometimes you can take a small hammer and tap on the radiator tank next to the to the sensor. THIS HAS WORKED FOR ME SEVERAL TIMES. IF YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE SENSOR ITS NOT THAT BIG OF JOB. You will have to drain the radiator below the sensor level. There should be a drain **** on the bottom of the tank on the drivers side. Hope this helps.

How do I change the coolant

Hi!!
On the bottom of the radiator, there is a drain valve, just open it and drain fluid into a container, if you want faster drain, remove bottom radiator hose.
NOTE: DO NOT OPEN SYSTEM WHEN HOT, COOLANT IS POISONOUS FOR PETS, KEEP IT AWAY FROM THEM.
Good Luck!! Rate this post!!

How do you change the radiator on a 1996 Buick Skylark?

GM Grand Am/Achieva/Calais/Skylark/Somerset 1985-98 Radiator - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
CAUTION Never open, service or drain the radiator or cooling system when hot; serious burns can occur from the steam and hot coolant. Also, when draining engine coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted to ethylene glycol antifreeze and could drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantities. Always drain coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or is several years old.
A cross-flow radiator is used on most models. The radiators used on automatic transaxle models are equipped with oil coolers with inlet and outlet fittings for transmission fluid circulation. An aluminum-plastic radiator can be identified by the black plastic side tanks and aluminum radiator.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  3. If necessary for access to the radiator, remove the air intake duct assembly or air cleaner assembly.
  4. On automatic transaxles, disconnect and plug the upper oil cooler line.
  5. Disconnect the engine strut brace at the radiator, loosen the engine side bolt and swing aside, if equipped.
  6. Matchmark and remove the hood latch from the radiator support.
  7. Detach the upper hose and coolant reserve tank hose from the radiator.
  8. Disconnect the forward light harness and fan wiring. Remove the electric cooling fan. On some models this may not be able to be removed unless the front end of the vehicle is raised and supported.
  9. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  10. Remove the engine cooling fan if not yet done.
  11. If equipped, remove the splash panel below the radiator outlet hose. Detach the lower hose from the radiator.
  12. If equipped, disconnect and plug the lower oil cooler line.
  13. Carefully lower the vehicle.
  14. If equipped with air conditioning, remove the radiator to condenser bolts. Unbolt the refrigerant line clamp. Do not disconnect the lines.
  15. Remove the mounting bolts and clamp, then the shroud (if equipped) and carefully lift the radiator out of the engine compartment.
To install:
  1. Lower the radiator into position.
  2. Install the mounting clamps and bolts, including those associated with air conditioning parts.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. If equipped, attach the automatic transaxle cooler lines.
  5. Connect the lower hose(s) and attach the splash shield if equipped.
If the engine cooling fan was removed while the vehicle was in the air, install the assembly and attach all electrical wiring.
  1. Carefully lower the vehicle.
  2. If not already done, install the electric cooling fan, then attach the electrical connector(s).
  3. Connect the upper hose and coolant reserve tank hose.
  4. Install the hood latch and strut brace.
  5. Fill the system with coolant.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable, then start the engine. Run the vehicle until the thermostat opens, fill the radiator and recovery tank to their correct levels, then check the automatic transaxle fluid level.
  7. Turn the engine OFF , then once the vehicle has cooled, recheck the coolant level.

Where do you fill radiator on 02 taurus ses? my husband is changing the thermostat, drained the radiator and says there is no radiator cap, just a reserve tank and cap - does he fill it through the...

YES. But dont overfill it. Slowly add coolant to the low full line and let it run a while, like 10 minutes. if the level goes down fill it to the full line. After it cools for 30 minutes recheck the level and add as needed.

Where is the drain valve on 2002 dodge caravan radiator?

its a pitcock facing the cab bottom of the radiator, plastic flat. once you find the pitcock just put a bucket underneath and turn it.then refill. if you want to flush(run fluid thru to clean it out) the radiator id suggest taking it in. you dont have to flush it every time you change the coolant out.

Coolant fill procedure

NEVER open the radiator when the car (or any other engine) is running!! The radiator is part of the pressurized cooling system (under that cap is coolant at 15psi)

Correct way to check the coolant in the radiator, is wait until the engine is COLD, then remove the radiator cap and re-fill.
