Canon mp830 all-in-one printer will not power on

I can not power my all-in-one on. It is usually left on and I have not printed in several days. I came in today and it was not on and would not come on even after unplugging everything and replugging it. Any ideas?

When the printhead goes bad it can keep it from turning on. If the carriage is not locked on the right, remove the inks and printhead and try power again. If it comes on you need a new printhead, QY6-0061-000, don't put the old one back in again as it could ruin the main logic pcb.

And if it is locked on the right........then what?

You then need a shop to remove the covers and release the printhead, in some cases you can reach in on the right side and turn the gear on the top right side to free the printhead. Use a flashlight and look for the top portion of a white gear and turn it toward the rear of the printer until the carriage is free from the lock.

After changing the ink cartridge it gives me the message, the type of print head is incorrect...Canon MP830....I installed it over and over again, same result with several other cartridges

Hello.
This can happen with certain types of compatible cartridges. the large black is usually the issue. Try unplugging the printer from the power for 5 mins. Also Try replacing the large black with a different brand, compatible cartridges are great for saving money but can cause some issues with the electronics. I recommend G & G Brand compatibles. they have been rated very well in PC Magazines and give no issues with recognition.

Canon mp830 error code 6A00

Hi Good day!! The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam. Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code. As a Canon tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move. Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like. And yes I have found all those things in a purge unit. The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement. A Pixma MP830 would still be under Canon warranty, get it into a shop and save yourself the hassel.
Incidently, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model. And its always a paper path error or purge unit.
I forget myself so here goes, the purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing. That is why you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it. It also has a an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

Can the Canon MP830 be set up as a network printer. If so, how do I do it?

It can be done two ways. First, you can purchase a Silex Print Server C-6700WG and connect the MP830 to your network through this server. Second, you can connect the MP830 to one computer in your network and use that computer as a server to handle print jobs from other computers (clients) on the network (called print sharing).

Information on how to do either of these can be found here. Type "network printing" in the small search window in the center of the screen and click the Search button. You will find several links related to network printing/printer sharing.

Hello, My Canon MP830 suddenly shut off when I told it to print a sheet. It will not turn on, and the print head is stuck to the right, and I can't move it. I left it unplugged for several days, but still...

When the carriage is stuck on the right there's not much you can do, When the printhead goes bad it keeps your printer from powering up. You need to either remove the printhead, or unplug the light color ribbon cables from the circuit board on the right side of the machine inorder to power up, and then change the printhead. QY6-0061-000 around $60.00

My Canon MP830 suddenly refuses to print black. The tanks are apparently full or nearly so, and I have used deep cleaning utility several times to no avail. It refuses to print at all. This happened all at...

drivers...can really get corrupted for no reason, or a good reason(power glitches)..so..reload the drivers/print management software, remove the printer from the panel, unplug it from the computer, then reverse that. Should 'see' it, and you may be back in business soon.

Got backup?
