Question about Whirlpool LER5636P Electric Dryer

1 Answer

NO Heat I have a Whirpool dryer 4 years old that won't heat up. I checked the breakers all is fine there (hasn't tripped) and cleaned the filter. I had the heater element tested and that was good. This dryer will work one day and not the next, this has been going on for 2 weeks. Is there a fuse or thermostat on the dryer itself I should be checking?

Dryer is 2 years old. Worked fine until we moved to a new house and could not hook it up. 1 year later I finally had the electric problem fixed and hooked the dryer up No Heat. Dryer turns on but NO Heat.

is the outlet 3 or 4 prongs?. voltage check the outlet for propper voltage. check connection at dryer power cord. 2 of the wires power the motor circuitry(120vac) the other 2 the heating element. you may have a loose connection in outlet, switch wires or bad-half trip breaker. if not,,,, there's a dryer problem, call us again with update please. good luck to you.

Dried a load fine, next load tumbles wont dry. still cant get heat

Hi,

Make sure front of dryer is not blocked, air flow is needed to dry.Check that the lint filter and exhaust duct is clean.

Check the blown fuses and home’s circuit breaker tripped. Dryer use 2 household Fuses or a circuit breakers, If one is blown, the dryer may still operate but not heat. Alternatively, the dryer may heat, but it may not heat up as hot as it should. Replace the Fuses or reset the circuit breaker.

Another common cause of a dryer failing to heat is a faulty Heating Element. You will need to replace it.

Good Luck and have a nice day.
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Dryer runs, tumbles clothes, but does not heat

i am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

HE4 Kenmore Dryer tripping Circuit Breaker

If you put a light load in the dryer will not trip the circuit at all. That means heavy load made the motor work harder and over heat, it going to trip the circuit , pretty soon, the motor will be warn out.

Drayer working but no heat

No heat may mean that one side of the 240 volt circuit breaker is tripped or one fuse of the 240v circuit at the fuse/breaker box is tripped. Just replace/reset the fuse or breaker which ever you have.
Dryers will have controls working but not heat if it happens to be that particular side of the 240v circuit that tripped or fuse burned.

Dryer internal breaker trips

If you are using dryer sheets in the machine the filter screen may be plugged and will have to be cleaned. You can check it by placing a bit of water on the screen if it beads and does not flow through then the screen is indeed plugged reducing air flow. There could be lint and build up in the dryer's internal ducting and sensors, the machine will have to be disassembled for a complete cleaning this will also reduce air flow and cause the machine to heat abnormally.
