Whatever it is you got stuck in there, there should be a little hole bellow the Tray, get a needle and shove that in, tray should open and you can get whatever there was on your DVD Player :)

Stuck DVD in Magnavox combo TV/DPD player...how to remove?

Unplug it from the wall, wait an hour to discharge it completely, flip it over, take the back cover off, access the dvd mechanism (you will have to remove temporarily some boards to have full access) and unscrew the top arm - one screw on either side. Take off the disk and reassemble it.

Not reading, seems to be laser pick-up problem have tried cleaning it sometimes plays for about 1 hour before getting stuck, and after that the laser wont focus

Sounds like the motors that control the angle and focus of the laser are going bad. Either find out what kind of replacement laser assembly would be needed and order it online, or get a new DVD player.

After approx 1/2 hour of play the movie gets stuck for few seconds, plays again for 2-10 seconds, then permanently gets stuck. Sometimes a smack to the machine works, ff does not work....we usually just...

Smacking the machine is a good way to destroy the DVD lens. Get a CD/DVD lens cleaner and make sure there aren't any marks on the disk. Dirt & smudges cause about 75% of all CD/DVD player problems.

DVD player stuck on progressive scan

Try unplugging the power cord from the wall for at least 24 hours. This should cause the unit to 'forget' the setting for progressive scan, and return to the default interlaced. If this doesn't work, you will need to find a remote to get into the menus to reset this option. Perhaps a universal remote will work? Let us know if this works!

My dvd always shows "system error" and won't play commercial copyright dvds, only recorded ones.

I had the same problem with my recorder except that it wouldnt play any discs at all.. I finally unplugged the recorder and left it unplugged for 16 hours. Now it is fine. I am not getting any error messages.
