Question about MicroBoards MX-1 Disc Publisher Burner

Open Question

Blurry printing on my PF Pro Microboards

First this is a brand new system just out of the box. I have followed the set up instructions to the letter. I went to print my first CD job and on the bottom 1/3 the printing is blurry. It clears up at the bottom of the page but there is about a 1/4 inch section that is bad. I have been told that this is due to slippage by the main roller and other attached parts. I have cleaned these parts several times with no luck. Anyone got any ideas?

May just be the type or mil/thickness of the labels on the cds. Try buying stick on labels and and putting them on prior to burning. They are only $6 at walmart for 20. This will tell you if it is an internal issue or if it is a mil issue

Several solutions for you
first check cables.if theyare connected, try to install the driver.in device manager scan it again & let to plug & play to find it.then restart the pc (If you have it connected to a pc)
2. Try shutting down both the system and publisher 3 Restart the PC first before the pub. 4. Once you connect the pub. allow it to be detected by the system 5. If your given any errors, please list them out 6. If no errors occur, try to burn another disk 7. If the disk stops half way, let me know 8. If it is a success, then problem solved.

PF Pro printing pale blue instead of black

you are printing composite black instead of pure black.
Still problem is the print head not getting all inks (may be air, or you didn't remove some seals on the inks/print head.

You've got an expensive unit (see below for Press Release), with a built-in CD/DVD reader/writer.
Given that your unit could be six years old, it's possible that the reader/writer has "died".

It seems to be a "stand-alone" unit -- not something that requires either Mac OSx or Windows XP/Vista/7 to operate.

I'm guessing that _ANY_ IDE (not 'SATA') HP-brand reader/writer, provided that it has a "LightScribe" capability, could be purchased, and could be inserted to replace the "dead" reader/writer. For about $100, it's worthwhile to try this "substitution" to revive your unit.

Cost pre print?

I don't have a pf3, but I have been using 3 of the pf2s over the past year. I use them pretty heavily for large printing projects and they have held up pretty well (with a little maintenance from time to time), so I would hopefully expect the same performance from the pf3...

The cost per print will vary, of course, depending on the coverage and quality of printing (photo mode uses more ink than graphic mode). I have been recording how many discs I can do of certain jobs per full cartridge and have found the cost per print range to vary between 20 - 35 cents.

I'm also not sure if the pf3 uses proprietary color ink cartridges (the black are not) like the pf2s, but I found only one reliable company that can refill them that has helped us lower our ink expenses... http://www.emeraldrecycle.com/

Good luck in making a decision!

Only 1 copy at time

The previous poster is most likely correct. You have to use Microboards ink for the PF-2, PF-3 and PF-Pro printers. The part number you need is the PRF38ml. The PF-2 printer has a sensor for the barcode on the PRF38ml as well as a RFID chip for verification.

If this does not fix your issue, then the sensors that scan the barcode and the RFID chip may be broken, dirty or out of alignment. If so, you need to contact Microboards or an authorized Microboards repair center for repair services.
