Question about Canon Pixma iP4500 InkJet Printer

2 Answers

My 2 yr old Canon Pixma IP4500 InkJet Printer cannot be turned on when the main power button on the printer is pressed. I have checked that I have correctly plugged in the power cable into a working electrical power source. What could be wrong and what charges would I be paying for the repair. I paid S$152 for the printer. The Canon agent in Singapore charges an upfront fee of S$55 for the check excluding new parts and labour. Appreciate your advise. Thanks.

If the carriage is not stuck in the right corner, try removing the printhead. If it powers up with the printhead removed, you need a new printhead. The new printhead is around $60.00

As there are no guarantees of what is actually wrong and you would have to pay $$55 plus parts and labour and given its age I would say that you would be better off just buying a new printer as the repair cost could easily be more than $$150 and upwards depending on what is actually wrong.

Canon PIXMA ip4500 will not turn on

Sounds like the power outage was a power surge and destroyed your printer, especially if your printer was not plugged into a power surge protector strip. Check with others in your apartment to see if they experienced the same. If so, your landlord may be responsible and can put in a claim. If your printer is still under warranty, contact Canon. Also, check to see if this item is covered by tenant insurance, if you have coverage. Hope this helps.
