If it is a built in sound card, check your BIOS settings, make sure it is enabled there. If it is a plug in type card, pull it out and put it back in. Make sure you plugged the wires into the correct hole on the plug in area. Look in device manager to see if there is a problem with the hardware, or if it is even there.
