If it starts to agitate, that tell us that the water level switch has been satisfied. Unless the electrical contacts are fried inside the level switch (extremely rare) you need to replace the water inlet valve. It is the part the water supply hoses screw onto on back of the machine.

If it fills with water and starts the cycle and the water keeps running in then your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is sticking. It needs replacing.

My washer will not aggitate at all. What could be the prolem?

No agitation?

first use a meter and check ur water pressure switch? that is what sends the machine the message to start wash cycle? You can test it with a meter and with a manual test? ( first locate it in the panel, it has a plastic clear tube hose going into it, remove that tube from its connection, now put another small tube or hose into the slot where it was and have the machine set to wash cycle with water in it. Blow into the other end of the tube. If the machine starts to wash. the pressure switch is more than likely good. now take the original hose tube and plug one end and blow into it the other end, it should be hard and have pressure, if it is easy to blow and u dont feel any pressure and it feels like the air is going out ?
sometimes they get busted open or a pin hole and release air causing the water switch diaphram to not open.
If both check ok then next CHECK the motor coupler or belt if belt driven.check with a multi meter for continuity the door switch, and if there is a little movement on wash cycle in 1 direction only then check the cam dogs in agitator.

I have a GE toploader washer. The model # is WBSR1060T (VVSRV1040V, & YVSR1040V were also on the washer too) the washer keeps filling to the max setting no mater what the water level is set on, also...

Remove the front panel of the washer by using a putty knife to release the retaining clips, located in the seam between the front panel and the washer's top, about 2 inches in from each side. With an empty wash tub, remove the small hose on the left side of the outer tub and clean out the inside of the hose. Replace the hose. Test.

My GE WCSR2090D top load washer has flooded our house in the past, and when looked at by a repair man he said nothing seemed wrong... so we continued to use it and it now leaks/floods only once in every...

You might have a partially clogged drain past your drain hose
(In the wall etc)
Thats overflowing behind the washer.
Watch the drain for a few washings and see if it overflows
It may be second or third or fifth load. Its hard to catch
If this was helpful please rate me.

Water fills the tub then nothing happens.

it does not aggitate? Thats the cycle that allows the water to wash the clothes. It may be broken, I have had that happen a couple times. I would take the aggitator off and see if the teeth in the groves are worn out, It happen's when used alot. Commen problem and easy to replace.

Keeps filling up even when full for over 4 hours (never changed cycles)

The timer sends a signal to the water level control valve. This valve serves two primary purposes. 1. Activate the water valve to fill the machine. 2. Shut the water flow down and allow the machine to operate. Try running the machine again. If the water continues to enter the machine after it begins aggitating then shut the water off at the spigot. Now watch and see if the timer moves or not.

If the timer does not move at all then I would replace the timer. If it DOES move then another problem exists and will need to be addressed.
