Question about Lexmark E260dn Laser Printer

2 Answers

I would like to know how to reset the Lexmark E260dn to factory defaults. The printer was set with a static IP address and no longer exists on THAT network. I need to set it up as a DHCP client again to gain access to its web interface.

Restoring the factory default settings

Do one of the following:
• If your printer is on a network, access the Embedded Web Server:

1 Type the printer IP address into the address field of your Web browser.
Note: If you do not know the IP address of the printer, print a network setup page and locate the IP address in the TCP/IP section.
2 From the Settings screen, click General Settings.
3 Under Factory Defaults, select Restore Now, and then click Submit.

• If your printer is connected to a computer by a USB or parallel cable, use the Local Printer Settings Utility for Windows or Printer Settings for Macintosh.
1 Open the utility.
2 Do one of the following:
– From the Local Printer Settings Utility menu bar, click Actions Restore Factory Defaults.
– From Printer Settings, click Factory Defaults.

Warning—Potential Damage: Restore Factory Defaults returns all printer settings to the factory default settings except Network/Port menu settings. All downloads stored in RAM are deleted. Downloads stored in flash memory or on a printer hard disk are not affected.

Reset ip address

If you use DSL or a cable modem you could try (as mentioned above) resetting your IP address. Go to the RUN command, type "command"

There you can type:
/ipconfig
(shows your current IP)

/ipconfig /ALL
(more details such as when the current IP "lease" expires)

/ipconfig /renew
(renews your IP address)

/ipconfig /release
(drops your current IP)
Bell High Speed users need only reset the modem to obtain a new IP. You can check your current IP address from http://www.ip-details.com

Lexmark Ed260 does not print

OK, if it's timing out that means the printer is not visible to the network. When you used the setup disc, you said it found the same address? What address does it detect? It will mostly likely start with 192.168.x.x. During the setup process does it offer to use DHCP vs a static IP address?

Do you know the IP addresses of the 8 machines on your network? You'll want to make sure the printer doesn't use the same address as that would cause an IP conflict and prevent it from working properly on the network. Preferably you'll want to use an address outside the scope. For example, if your DHCP server is set to give out addresses from 192.168.1.1-.20 then you should make the printer 192.168.1.21. Hope this makes sense.

If that still doesn't get you anywhere, connect the printer directly to a PC via USB and make sure you can print. It's possible it's an issue with the printer, but my guess it's just a network config issue.

I want connect my lexmark e260dn with ethernet cable, but is not in same network range. How to solve this problem

These instructions generally apply to all networkprinters with built-in network cards (print servers) such as HP LaserJetprinters, IBM Infoprint laser printers etc. This example is for a network HP LaserJet printer. To install a HP printer (with built-in Jetdirect printserver) as a network printer you need to do the following -
1. Open the printer's menu and enablethe Network Card - these print servers use a static IP address therefore, configure the IP address of the network card so it matches the IP range of yournetwork. Eg. If your IP's are 192.168.0.xxx then set the network card to a highnumber say 100. (This is to prevent a conflict with the router issuing the sameIP address to a computer on your network). Then set the Subnet Mask IP address to 255.255.255.0 If you have a wireless router then check the IPaddress range that the router issues to the computers on your network andconfigure the static IP address in the printer's network configurationaccordingly.
2. Install the HP printer driver onyour computer/s using the LPT printer port.
3. Connect the printer with a LAN cableto the network hub/router.
4. Click on Printers and Faxes - rightclick on the HP printer and click on Properties.
5. Click on Ports and click on AddPort.
6. In available ports - click onStandard TCP/IP Port and then Configure port.
7. Tick the IP box and type in the IPaddress of the HP's printer IP address.
8. Click OK and tick Enablebi-directional support and then OK

How do I remove PC name from the LCD? The person who originally had this printer/scanner is no longer using it but I can't seem to remove them from the options when I scan something.

You can solve this through any computer that can print to the printer.

1. Press Settings on the Control Panel

2. Use the arrow keys on the printer to select " Network Settings" and press the check mark key

3. Use the arrow keys on the printer to select " TCP/IP" and press the check mark key

4. Use the arrow keys on the printer to select " View IP Address" and press the check mark key

5. Write down the IP number displayed on the LCD (i.e. 192.168.1.205)

6. Enter this number in the address bar on computer (i.e. http:/192.168.1.205) and press enter

7. The Lexmark Printer Status page should display

8. Select "Configuration" and "Scan to Network Host Management"

Now you can delete any computer name that is no longer needed.

How to reset the NIC to use DHCP

If you press the test button once on the network interface (a small black button near the network port) This should print out the network settings, you can then confirm the IP Address etc set on the printer.

I belive the defult setting on the network card is for DHCP= OFF, so if you default the network card you may not get the result you required.

The netword card can be set to defult by holding down the test button for more than 10 seconds. This should reset the network settings to factory defults.

You can unlock the menu on the 6312 by pressing the MENU and ENTER buttons and keep them held down for 5 to 6 seconds you can then access the menu.

The IP Address, Sub Net Mask and Gateway can be set via the control pannel menu on the pritner.

If the IP Address set in the pritner is valid for the network you should be able to get to the printers web page, you can then make changes to the pritners and network card configurations.

Setting IP Address

Really need a bit more information, like operating system for a start, but here goes: I am guessing that your subnet mask is different from your printers. What address that you set are you getting from the printer? On your PC, what is your IP and subnetmask set to?
