I'm not sure what you want us to do about this--as long as the computer is under warranty, you're covered.
Otherwise I'd suggest you get a tube of silicone seal and glue it back together. Won't affect the operation.

Testimonial: "Glueing might work. On the other hand, maybe I will just remove what is useful from the case and build something else. Thanks."

Replace on/off switch dimension 8200?

The On/Off switch is the Power On switch.

The switch itself is tiny, and is located inside the plastic Power On button assembly.
There are plastic tangs on the Power On button, which hold the switch in place.

I use a hair dryer set on low heat, to gently heat the tangs so they will spread easily, to remove the switch. (Move the hair dryer slowly back, and forth)

You can also set the Power On assembly in a bowl of Very warm water, to temporarily soften the tangs.
(The switch is no good anyway. Dry the plastic Power on assembly before installing the new switch)

This switch is usually a replacement,

http://www.directron.com/atxswitch.html

To remove the Power On button assembly the computer case is opened.

BEFORE you start, the computer Must be unplugged from power, and you should observe anti-static precautions.

Your body carries Static electricity. Static will fry out (Short Circuit) the components inside a computer.

You can either,
1) Buy a $6 ESD wrist strap, connect the wrist band to your wrist, and connect the alligator clip to the metal frame of the open computer case,
OR,
2) You simply touch the metal frame of the open computer case to relieve your body of static.

(Again, computer unplugged from power.
Also, IF you get up, and walk away, when you return TOUCH the metal frame again)

This is Dell Support, and the Service Manual for the Dell Dimension 8200 desktop computer,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8200/

To open the computer case:
Click on Opening the Computer Cover

The computer cover opens like a clamshell.
Observe where the cables (Wires) go to the motherboard, from the Front of the computer case.

You may wish to make a drawing, and notes.
Dell DOES NOT state where the wires go.
If any wires are accidentally bumped loose, you will have a schematic made by you, of where they go.

As you proceed, state any problems you are having, and let's see if I can rectify them with information. Simply state in a Comment.

Cant remove it

You may have a plastic clip holder... Your motherboard has 10 screw slots.. count your screws and look for plastic clip holder mostly near the Processor area.

Help to upgrade memory of Dell Dimension 8100

Im sure you mean 1GB of ram.

Upgrading ram is possibly the easiest upgrade to a pc.Firstly shut down the computer and remove the wall plug.

Remove the casing
Make sure you touch something metal away from the case before entering the chassis of the computer... anti static wristbands are good.

As soon as you open the case you will see the dimm slots where the ram goes.

You will find two plastic clips on each ram module, just pull these back to release the ram and insert the new ram.You may need to push firmly down to lock them in.The clips will auto lock.

Just be careful not to push to hard as to damage the mainboard.

How do I take the desktop apart to put in more

Computer off, cables unplugged. Lay the computer on it's right side. (As you view the computer from the front) On the back towards the bottom, you'll see a slide latch. Looks like a metal tab that sticks out a little. laying on the side, the latch is pushed down towards the bottom. Then you will see two indentations on the side cover. Looks like you would use your fingers to grab these indentations to pull on. You do.You are trying to slide the cover towards the back.I HAVE run into one, that the slide lock would not fully release all the way. Makes it REAL FUN(?) to get the side cover off. I had to use a very non-professional way to release the slide lock, and slide the side cover back. (A little case metal bending, was involved! Fortunately I'm a pro, and it was brought to me with this problem. I received permission to open it anyway I could. I bent everything back smooth, and removed this slide lock)This is Dell.com/Support, and the Manuals page for the Dell Dimension 4700. More specifically, the page that shows and tells you how to open the computer case.http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4700/sm/cvrop.htm#wp1052331After you view this, I also suggest you may want to take a look at the page for installing Ram Memory. Just go to the top of this page, and click on the blue -> Back to contents page <-

What diameter is the processor fan?

its not a standard diameter for a pentium4, ime not sure of the diameter as dell does not list it and the actual fan is on the case , ported to the pentium4 cpu covered with a heat sinc. Your best bet is to physically measure it or take it with you when you buy a new fan. If you have the outside dimentions ,the correct screw hole pattern and it fits under the plastic shroud, you have the correct fan..

Ethernet Controller

Hi

E210882 is a number found on more than one Dell System Board. Dimension 8400 and 4600 come to mind. Possibly there are more. Secondly, E210882 is not a Dell Part number (DP/N or DS/N). While Dimension 8400 is a 775 socket, Dimension 4600 is a 478 socket. So they don't fall to the same family.

In any case the network controllers used on Dell System Boards are Intel and Broadcom.

To proceed, at least provide/confirm the system model. If this is not available, give the Dell Part Number.
