Hi,

Usually, If your refrigerator freezes its contents, even when the cold control is set to its lowest setting, its cold control is probably defective. But since you have changed these control the next possible thing is thermostat.

Thermostat usually helps in maintaining the temperature,Even if it fails your entire refrigerator freezes

Try changing the thermostat and Adaptive defrost control, this should solve your issue

please leave me comment, if you need furthur assistance

You can find adaptive defrost board located in the upper right corner of refrig under the panel. remove panel by pulling on panel towards you from the finger holes in the rear. remove two 1/4 inch screws and two phillips screws. defrost manually with hair dryer behind panel in freezer.

I have a jen air JS42SEDBDA built in. It is dumping all of the water inside the freezer when it defrosts. I have checked continutity on all line heaters and made sure that the line is free and attache4d....

Just a thought. I don't know this fridge, but where the water is coming down, there should be a small gully. In the gully is a small hole, where the water should run out, to a hot spot.
If some food or alga came in the tube, cleaning it, could solve the problem. I don't think this will be in the manual.

The food on the refrigrator side is freezing. the water line is not working so i assume its frozen as well.

Hello Tina,

The problem with it freezing in the freshfood section is going to be because the air damper that opens and closes to let cold into the ref. section is stuck open and too much cold air is entering into the ref. compartment. This is a fairly common occurence with the GE refrigs. and by replacing the fresh food air damper which is located in the upper left corner of the fresh food compartment it will open and close properly and not allow too much cold air to enter where upon it freezes everything.

THE WATER GETS FROZEN INTO THE PLASTIC TUBE ROLL WHICH SERVES LIKE A DEPOSIT TANK TO COOL THE WATER.

the fresh food side is too cold . if colder than 38 deg it can freeze water tubing . there are kits for amana and maytag and jen air to prevent this ( and what is in kit is rubber shelf blocker strips that install on the back edge to prvent change of air flow . they can be ordered from amana for your model .. and you might ck the tempt in fresh food side and adjust to 38 deg . this can help . also adjust the freezer to a higher # this will slow the cold air comming from the freezer side . hope this helps mm

Refrig. is freezing food

Your problem is going to be with your damper if its a side by side, the damper is what will direct the airflow from the freezer section to the fresh food side. Often times the flap will break off or stick open allowing cold air to enter the ref section all the time. This will cause the food to freeze usually towards the top of the unit. Or possibly a bad temperature control causing the unit to run constantly.

Consul gas fridge .freezer working fridge not.

First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer.

Now, why is that cold air not getting over to the Ref side?
1. The little door is not open.
check your control setting. You should be able to feel air coming through the channel on the Ref side.

2. The fan in the freezer is not working.
You can hear this fan running when you open the freezer.

3. The coils on the freezer side are clogged with ice which won't let the fan circulate the air over to the Ref side.
This is a failure of the defrost system.

If there is no frost on the freezer side it may be low on coolant.

1. The little door is open too much.
check your control setting. You should be able to feel air coming through the channel on the Ref side

2. The cold control is bad causing the compressor to run too much.

Fresh food side freezing

the air damper is stuck open or tempature control is bad. look thru the vents(use a mirror) on the left rear(top side) of the fresh food compartment (right hand door) to see if the air damper is open/closed. i am sure it will be open since your freezing food in the ref section. if it is open ,watching with your mirror turn ref (fresh food) control off. the air dmper should close, if not damper could be stuck(ice build up,piece of foam, ect) if you can determine damper door is free, then best thing to do is replace controlassy.(120.00 or so) good luck
