Question about Adobe Photoshop 6.0 for PC
Did you follow gizmo1's advice, specifically the one regarding uninstalling Photoshop and then reinstalling it? If so, what were the results? To elaborate on what gizmo1 said, you need to press ctrl+alt+del, then click on the processes tab. There you will see a column that says CPU. If you click on it twice, you will see the different applications listed by how much CPU (basically, computer processing power) they're using. The one that should be using most is "System Idle Process", are any other ones using anything over 5? Obviously this changes while you're looking at it.

There can be many causes to freeze up a system in Photo shop Here is a troubleshooting manual from adobe. It sounds like afresh install of the operating system and software is a sure bet to clear any errors. In the guide I included there are some fixes that don't include a total erase of the system. You did not include your operating system. So here is the manual for XP. If you are facing such issue with the software from the starting itself than it might be the issue for hardware competebility i.e.
1)your RAM might not be as much as this software requires check out the hardware requirement of the software and than are you having the perfect hardwares for the software i.e make sure that you have the appropriate amount of RAM in your system.,
2) issue might be the software installation issue you can try after reinstalling the software but before that take the backup of the files so that it does not harm you in any sence,
3)issue might be a virus which is only affecting that file only. so scan it once. try these solution i am sire that one of these will work
