    Thank you for your help.
Who's the "Old Hack" you or me?

I have got a wireless setting in the control panel and a wizard to set it up. I've started the "set up" but haven't got the BT Hub yet, Wednesday I hope, then I'll see if the wireless works?
The Evesham Axis Demon is Windows XP Media Centre Edition 2005, all over my head, but perhaps that may explain why such an old machine might have a wireless.

If I can't connect with wireless I'll get an Ethernet cable, a long one!
Thanks again;broadband at last I hope if it all works!
    Regards, av-troughton

Thank you for your help fixing the problem with my wireless connection. I have already replied to thank you, but apparently I abused you, I don't know how, if I did I'm sorry. I did jokingly ask "who was "Old Hack" you or me? Sorry if you took that seriously.

Anyway just in case you did not get my answer to the computer problem; I think I have got a wireless connection, I found a wizard but could only set up a little as I haven't got the BT hub yet, that should come on Wednesday, then I'll know if the wireless connection works.

    Thanks again.

    Regards,

Look in your Network Connections control panel: Does it have the wireless setting? Can you use the Network connection wisard to set one up? Can you plug your PC into the router to turn on the Wireless? ( The Evasham Axis Demon, although it is a good machine, I dont think has wireless ) I, personally, would plug your computer into the hub with a Ethernet cable. Get one that is long enough.

Hi. We are trying to setup a phillips tv through a bt vision box please

  1. A TV aerial feed - The BT Vision box gets its digital TV signals over-the-air, so needs a TV aerial. This needs to be connected to the aerial input socket on the V-Box. There is an output RF aerial socket to allow you to connect an aerial feed to a TV if required.
  2. SCART lead - You need to make a connection from the Vision+ box to the TV using a SCART lead. If you have a HD TV set, you can also connect via an HDMI lead (not supplied).
  3. Connection to Broadband - You'll need to connect from the BT Vision+ box to a BT Broadband connection. This is done using the BT Home Hub. The Home Hub is the Broadband router supplied by BT, and it connects into to your phone line to give you Internet access-The most common way to make the connection, is to connect an Ethernet (networking) cable from the BT Vision+ box to one of the Ethernet ports on the Home Hub. If you can't make a direct connecting to the Home Hub, you can use powerline adapters to make the connection. The self-install kit includes two Powerline adapters to allow you to connect to the Home Hub if it's in a different room to the BT Vision+ Box.
  4. The BT Vision v-box has an additional scart socket, which can be connected to a video or dvd recorder.

Associate wireless router to my home hub

If your Home Hub is a BT type internet hub, then you can connect the WAN port to the Ethernet port on the Hub.

This means it will go through two routers. One in the Hub and another in the Edimax. The Edimax needs to be configured as a bridge, because you need to keep within the same address range as the BT router. The Edimax DHCP allocation of IP addresses need to be disabled. This is not on the web site.

Computer won't recognise ethernet connection from router

I don't know the make. model, of laptop or your OS? Open network connections, is it enabled? Is there a Network Icon in the Tray Notification Area? You really do not need a Disk to connect. Just plug in the ethernet and boot the machine. The computer should ID the connection, if it enabled and working properly. If not open Device Manager , Network Adapters and enable the ethernet adapter. For further assistance respond to post.

Trying to set up a LAN party for COD Black Ops - Zombies and some help is seemingly much needed. We have 2 TVs, 2 PS3s, 2 games, 4 players - splitscreen on each TV and a wireless internet connection...

First off I would not recommend wireless just because of issues with speed and latency.
You would need a 4 port hub and two rj45 ethernet shot gun runs from the hub to both of the units.
I would highly recommend this because of latency and other issues that might interrupt your lan party.
If you require internet access I would recommend getting a broadband linksys router www.linksys.com and following the steps above with your ethernet runs.
Let me know if you have any additional questions

Most people have to just work out the configuration by them selves BT do offer a lot of support (0800 022 33 22) Their equipement is pretty good and widely used.
By the way the most least used channels are 1,6,and 11 there might be a default but these are the most complete channels which do not overlap(RE;
cnannel 1]--2.412 Centre frequency(ghz)
channel 6]--2,437
channel 11]-2.462

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router .
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then connect 1 computer to the router and open the router set up page. Once you open the router set up page, you will be able to find the wireless network key.
Use that password to connect to the wireless network

Wireless connection problem

BT is right, the fault is at your end, because you can connect to the Internet with an ethernet cable.
You have lost your wireless connection with the wireless hub.
This could be low signal strength (especially if the wireless access point is in one part of the house and your laptop is in another room)
OR Your laptop wireless card has lost its wireless access configuration.
Check your laptop wireless configuration, check your signal strength, check your SSID, check your security (WEP or WAP),
Have you got MAC address filtering.
Go to control panel, click on network connections, right click on Wireless Network, Click on repair (might fix your connection problem), Else right click on Status (should give you indication of how your wireless is functioning or not functioning).
Check your TCP/IP settings is set for "Obtain an IP address automatically"
Without more information it is difficult to identify exactly what is wrong with your connection.

Xbox360 connection

Yes, you are able to connect your 360 using a hardwired connection. In fact, it is even faster that way!

Your BT Home Hub has two ethernet jacks on it, for use with whatever devices you wish to connect to the internet (in this case, your 360). Simply plug your 360's ethernet cable into the jack, and voila! You can now access Live. However, if you wish to host games over live, you may need to open up certain ports for Live to use.

The ports are listed at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908874

A manual for using and setting up your BT Home Hub is at:
http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=16536
Near the bottom of the page is a link for the PDF version of the manual.
