Question about Sony Handycam CCD-TRV87 Camcorder

LCD won't turn off

When I place the switch in the OFF position the LCD display is still on. If I turn the switch to the CAMERA position and then switch back to the OFF position the display goes off but then after a few minutes it comes back on. I have tried resetting the camera by taking out the battery and switching to CAMERA for 15 seconds but this doesn't help. I just installed a new battery and the battery is working just fine. Also noticed that sometimes when recording the display show REC but then later changes to just a red light. Also, when I stop recording, instead of STNDBY in the display, it shows a green light. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

My lcd display won't show the camera image while taking pics but it will show the menu and previously taken photos by pressing the play button. What could be wrong?

Turn the camera on, and press the DISP button on the back of the camera. This turns the LCD screen on and off. The idea of this button is to save battery power (you would then use the peep hole optical viewfinder in its place).

Why can't Nikon D90 or D7000 not start up with LCD screen when turned on?

On the D90, set Custom Setting F1 to "Both". When turning on the camera, turn the switch two notches, past the "On" position to the backlight position before releasing it. This will bring up the information screen.

On the D7000, set Custom Setting F1 to "backlight and information display". Turn the camera on the same way.

It's not quite as convenient as having the information display come up automatically, but you should be able to train yourself to turn the camera on by turning the switch all the way.

I switch the canon Ixus 60 on in camera mode and the LCD screen is blank. THe LCD screen works fine in video and review mode.

Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

My camera taks picture but i cant see them on display..the display is black but when i press the menu button i can see the menu..do i have a problem with the lenss?

Many digital cameras have an "LCD Backlight" switch. If it is turned off, you will not see anything, even though you have indeed taken photos. They simply won't show up with that lighting switch turned off.

Please search through both your camera's User Guide, or Manual, and the physical camera itself, to see whether you have such a switch on the camera and, if so, ensure that the switch is turned to the ON position.

In addition, if the switch is turned to the ON position, ensure that the associated "brightness" switch is turned so the balance of the slider switch is farther up the scale towards brghtness, than down towards the darker position. The condition of both of these two switches is critical to whether or not you can see the photos you have taken.

The screen on my camera will not display anything at all. The camera appears to turn on, but the screen is blank. Even when I switch it from one mode to another, there is nothing displayed on the screen

Have you tried taking pictures with it? Do the pictures show up when taken? If so, then it's likely that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

This is usually caused by a defective shutter release switch - it'll have to go into a repair shop - independent shops will charge about $110 USD - Canon charges about $180
