When I place the switch in the OFF position the LCD display is still
on. If I turn the switch to the CAMERA position and then switch
back to the OFF position the display goes off but then after a few
minutes it comes back on. I have tried resetting the camera by
taking out the battery and switching to CAMERA for 15 seconds but
this doesn't help. I just installed a new battery and the battery
is working just fine. Also noticed that sometimes when recording
the display show REC but then later changes to just a red light.
Also, when I stop recording, instead of STNDBY in the display, it shows
a green light. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

The ribbon wire from the display to the system board has cracked causing intermittent operation when moved. Depending on the wire configuration to the screen will decide if the screen must be replaced or the ribbon wire.
sometimes this happens if there is a fault with the memory card. switch the camera off, take the battery and memory card out, leave it for 2 mins, put the battery in (DO NOT PUT THE MEMORY CARD BACK IN) wait for the message on screen saying no memory card detected. switch off camera, put memory card in, switch on the camera, this normally cures the blank lcd screen issue
You have to switch the CH1 and CH2 switches inside the lcd display to input 1 or input 2 to control the xlr inputs. If these switches are in int (L) and int(R) position, then you are adjusting the audio on the CH1 ad CH2 dials below the lcd viewer on the outside of the lcd for the on camera mic. Only use line setting on the front of the camera when you are receiving an audio feed at line level from an audio board. If you set the camera to mic setting, and you are receiving a line level audio signal, you will blow out the audio 0 way too loud, if you are receiving a mic signal and your switch is set to line, you will not be able to hear the mic with the audio Ch1 and ch2 all the way up.
if the fault does not repair after tapping camera after switching on , its best to show to an expert repairer . This is a critical fault with the aperture of the camera getting stuck in closed position . Zoom lens has to be opened .. Maxx

Out of frustration I was sitting looking at the camera and thought to try all buttons and see what hapenned. On the righthand side of the camera in the bottom left position is a button marked display. Normally during live display mode, you can either switch the screen on or of by pressing this button (to conserve the batteries). If the camera is powered off and then on again, the screen automatically is in live display screen active mode again. For some reason my display remained off. When I depressed this button once after switching the camera on - voyla! The display worked again in live viewing mode. I do not know whether the screen is supposed to stay in the off mode when powered down in live display off mode even when it is switched off and then back on again or not, but the previous times I did, it was automatically on when powered up again.
So, before repairing your camera, please make sure that it is actually broken - refrain from making a fool of yourself like I did.
Thanks once again for your support

A properly functioning camcorder will report this if it has both a card for recording and a tape mechanism for recording, with a switch set "in card position" when you press the movie mode record button. If you have a camcorder like this, look for a button marked "photo" that is used specifically for snapping still photos.
You can adjust the brightness or color of the LCD display as needed.
1. Set the POWER switch to CAMERA position. (In the PLAYER mode, you may only setup the LCD while the tape is playing.)
2. Open the LCD screen, and the LCD switches on.
3. Press the MENU button.
4. Turn the MENU DIAL so that VIEWER is highlighted and then press the ENTER button.
5. Turn the MENU DIAL so that LCD ADJUST is highlighted.
6. Press the ENTER button to enter the sub-menu.
7. Turn the MENU DIAL so that it highlights the menu item you want to adjust (BRIGHT SELECT, BRIGHT ADJUST, COLOR ADJUST).
8. Press the ENTER button again.
You may select NORMAL or SUPER in the BRIGHT SELECT feature and press the ENTER button to save the setting.
Use the MENU DIAL to adjust the value of BRIGHT ADJUST and COLOR ADJUST.
You can set values for BRIGHT ADJUST between 00 ~ 35 and COLOR ADJUST between 00 ~ 35.
