Clicking sound in computer then BSOD

I always hear 1 click when my computer turns off. Sounds like a relay or somesuch. This is normal. Now during regular operation I hear this clicking sound going on and off, the computer freezes and then I get the BSOD referring to hardware failure.

I opened the PC and checked to see if the clicking sound was coming from the harddrive or the modem but it is not coming from there. Perhaps some type of relay problem on the motherboard? I cannot locate the clicker! This happens once or twice a week and my computer is on almost all day, every day. Any thoughts?

Sorry, your solution did not help. The 2 internal fans in the computer are running perfectly and are silent. The clue to solving this problem would be to determine the location of the device that normally clicks. That is, which part of the computer normally clicks when it is turned off. Then determine why that device is clicking repeatedly before the computer locks up and then turns off. The harddisk and other drives are blocking my view and for this reason I'm uable to determine its exact location. Does anyone know if there is a service manual available so that I can disassemble the system unit (correctly) in order to locate the problem?

Clicking sound

There are obviously many different potential sources for this noise!

It would be helpful if we could know exactly where you hear it coming from, but, alas, I will give sometips.

If it happens during acceleration, then it could be from "pinging" from bad gasoline, you could change to a higher grade (87 to 91).

A rotating part such as a pulley, water pump, etc could be making these noises from under the hood. If you hear it, try to open the hood and listen to isolate the sound!

It could be coming from the transmission. Your torque converter may be slightly tapping the housing (not likely, but have seen on another vehicle that had a tranny job done recently).

Again, if you can further narrow down the location, it would be helpful.

Are any check engine lights or ABS lights on, or any other abnormal lights on in the dash?

My ac goes off and on again and a clicking sound on passanger side

sounds like a relay is dead...the clicking sound is the relay turning on and off "tick, tick tick, tick"? there is a relay behind the plastic paneling but you would have to investigate to find out which one it is...just pull off the paneling where you hear the noise and follow it to the relay that is clicking...

Turned high beams on 1 night, headlights started flickering, turned back to low, was fine. Now they do it on both, and I hear a clicking coming from behind the dash near glovebox? They do not go out all...

The clicking sound is the headlight relay / thermal limit switch -- probably faulty. The light switch operates this relay -- something could be overheating or the relay coil could be faulty and not holding the realy contacts closed. Sounds like replacing the relay would be the most likely solution.

My 1996 Dodge caravan won't start. There's a clicking sound near the fuse box under the hood when i turn the key. i have checked the starter/solenoid. Any suggestions?

OK...this definetly sounds like the starter/solenoid, but not because it is faulty, but possibly due to low battery power......this clicking you are hearing might be the starter relay........what checks have you done already

Freezer not working

Either relay is bad on compressor or comp is bad. Comp may be under mfr wty; relay is not. Only way to tell is to buy new relay and see if comp starts.
