Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator
This side by side continues to freeze up. it has an control board that i gather controls the defrost. if i could access the schematic for this model then i would be able to troubleshoot it mush easier.
Dcompton, On the board, blue 3 pronged harness, left side lower. See if you have voltage from line (marked on board) to J7-9, orange wire.(next harness to the right) If you do, jump line to def on the 3 pronged harness. This will send 120V to your heaters. See if the heaters come on. If they do, you know that the board is not sending the unit into defrost. If they don't, the heater is the problem. First check your evaporator thermistor, should be approx. 36k ohms at 5 degrees. If that scopes ok, Then your problem is the board. The defrost thermostat is normally closed. It's there as a back-up in case the evap thermistor fails to terminate the defrost. It will open then at 140 degrees. Catriver.
