White screen showing for a gateway FPD 1975W LCD monitor

I have a gateway monitor, model number msx6750n03721. The screen would not turn on for more than a few seconds at a time and then would shut itself off. If I unplugged it for a few min it would then do the same thing over and over again. I disasembled then reasembled monitor and now it turns on fine but all I get is a white screen. I do not get the gateway logo when monitor is turned on now either. I know that the cables and video card/ computer are working correctly. Any ideas on how to get monitor to display correctly

Yes the screen and light(the whole monitor) would turn off completely. I would then unplug monitor from the wall and after about 1 min plug it back in and it would do the same thing of flashing on for about 1-2 sec then shut off again. Now after taking it apart the screen/monitor stays on (includeing the power light) but the screen image is completely white and doesnt change when hooked up to computer.
thanks for the question, any ideas?

Would the screen turn it self off completely (Power light turns off too), or would just the screen area turn black?

Gateway FPD 1975W LCD monitor,on light blinking, but wont turn on

I will assume you have already try this monitor with other PC? You should also set the PC VIDEO output resolution to be at native resolution of this monitor, which is 1440x900 @60Hz.

Where can you buy capacitors for my fpd 1975w monitor

They are available in electronic components stores. Use Google to search the Internet for a store near you or purchase them over the Internet.
Make sure they match the capacitance of the existing capaciyors and the voltage rating to be the same or greater.

Gateway monitor, black screen with blinking power button

wjfarm48, Sure sounds like a power supply problem. How old is it? How many hours of use? Do you understand what a switch-mode-power-supply and an inverter supply is? If not, then here are your options. Check with Gateway to see if there is a swapout program. You box up and ship them your monitor+cash, and they return a REFURBISHED same model with new CCF tubes and inverter/SMPS. When you box up the monitor, follow this lead. "A 3 inch thick layer of breathable air shall be the only thing touching the lcd front panel" Next option is find some local TV/Monitor repair guy who can get parts and or replacement boards/CCFtubes from Gateway. Last but not least, is to repair yourself. Not Recomended.. But do a search on lcd monitor repair or Bad Capacitors In LCD Monitors or Repair of SMPS in LCD/FPD Monitors. Also check for videos on YouTUBE related to lcd monitor repair just for your own info. Here 's what you are dealing with. The light that makes your FPD bright white is generated by Cold Cathode Fluorescent Tubes (2) that require 600-1200vac at high frequency that is generated by an INVERTER which gets 12-24vdc from the SMPS. Almost the same technology is used in the new style screw-in curlie-que Compact Fluorescent light bulbs. Only they call the inverter a electronic ballast. Anyway, thats about all the info I have. Let me know how you make out in you quest to get your LCD up and running again. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aol.com BYE for now.

Gateway FPD 1975W - black horizontal line

Although I don't have much hope for this, it is what I would try first:
Plug the monitor into a different system to make sure the problem is not from your video card or circuit.
This will probably show the same black line since the signal received by the monitor can't really cause this kind of problem.

I'm afraid that either the LCD panel itself has a failed driver (hardware, not software) or processing prior to this is faulty.
That line is being caused by all pixels being turned on hard, producing the maximum possible black.

Most all of the components inside are placed and soldered by robots and boards are often not economically repairable.
This kind of problem is becoming more common as China takes the plowshares away from farmers and makes assembly technicians of them.
